Best web browser?

Opera. It has its flaws, but some features like the trashcan are just brilliant. I wish there would be such a thing for other windows...

i like it the other way around to be able to quickly go trough my tabs by closing them without changing the tabs (opening all new interesting posts at once, and then just close'n'read)..

small things, indeed..

:D
Opera gives you the choice.

Maxthon (used to be MyIE2) since 3 years... No other browser offers what it does with such ease.

Currently beta testing Maxthon 2.0 which will blow FF and Opera away in features.
Yay for IE

I noticed Firefox takes no time saving websites, I hated that in IE. Apparently it saves using what is already downloaded.

I don't care what's under the hood... Fact is that Maxthon is faster than Firefox, has more options, is more tweakable and uses less memory than both Opera and Firefix. It's also safer than IE because it can tighten IE's standard settings. Maxthon 2.0 will also include a built in proxy, so you could change code even before it's rendered in the browser. Possible future code exploits can be altered before they reach the rendering engine.

You dont care what's under the good and call me uninformed?
nice one.
Good luck beating the memory usage of opera while browsing images btw.
What do you mean my more tweakable?
opera works fine out of the box :p
I've used maxthon but wasn't impressed btw.
Prove that maxthon is faster than opera 8.5X and uses less memory, while retaining faster back/forward browsing.
I already know for a fact that IE uses way more memory when browsing lots of images...

Maxthon has TONS more options than opera. Maxthon also has a plugin system and hundreds of good plugins. You can't even doubleclick the tab in opera to close a tab... You don't even get that option.

And I've seen tests between Maxthon/IE/Opera and Firefox where Maxthon used less memory. Google it yourself.

I don't browse "lots of images". I stopped browsing for porn long time ago ;)

I don't care because it does the job. I've never, EVER, had spyware, virus and I do know how to secure my work environment.

I don't care what's under the hood of my car either... It takes me where I want to go. I don't care what components are used in my toaster either. It toasts my bread without burning up my apartment.

Why do I need all the options?
I didnt say porn, but the fact of the matter is that opera rules all as far as image memory management goes.
Ever heard of screen shots of games?
I googled for maxthon and opera 8.5 and didn't find much.
Perhaps since you love maxthon so much you would be so kind as to provide a link supporting your account of less memory usage while being faster?
Double clicking a tab doesn't seem like it's much more usefull then either using the mouse gesture to do so or hiting the X in the corner.
Stop talking about using less memory then firefox, everyone and their dog knows FF is retarded as far as memory management goes.

Pluggins huh.. you mean like extensions for FF :D

Speaking of plugins and extensions... I'm curious, does anyone use the Opera user javascript functionality?

It's a largely unknown to the users feature allowing you to run your custom javascript on any site you wish, overriding it's content etc anyway you see fit. Similar to FF's greasemonkey, a bit more powerful (AFAIK). Actually it is capable of running unmodified greasemonkey scripts.

I just discovered this and started playing with it.

There are TONS of useful plugins for Maxthon... Seems to me you haven't really tried Maxthon much if you don't even know about the plugins.

I think choosing your browser is all about personal preference, so the bickering about what is better is entirely useless and a waste of time. Some people like this, some people like that.
I, personally, like Firefox a lot. Granted its memory management is somewhat flawed and the extension system is sometimes a plaster for a shotgun wound, but it is very flexible and it continues to improve and I am getting used to being on the look-out for new plug-ins.

I know about the pluggins but it seemed to me I didn't need them.
You have yet to produce convincing evidence for me to use a shell for IE.

I prefer opera for its speed and features. It also has a decent amount of extensibility through userjs, custom toolbars, panels, keyboard and mouse setups, and widgets.

Well there's evidence that ie (no matter the shell) isn't the fastest browser but I'm a bit concerned that they tested it on an 800 mhz machine with 256 ram.

One of my favorite plugins for Maxthon which enables a whole bunch of extra options can do this.... Hovering a tab with the mouse pointer shows a preview of what's on that page while I'm holding the mouse pointer over the tab.
