Thanks for the effort but I can't use these drivers, they have the same problem as the official 10.1 release, my monitor won't go into standby which isn't really acceptable to have my monitor on all the time.

What OS is this? Seem to be working fine in Windows 7 64-bit.

Dave, do you know why the D3D9 driver is reported as atiu9pag.dll instead of (the normal?) atiumdag.dll? (Windows 7 64.)

    I'm using Windows 7 64-bit, 5870 video card.

I'm not the only one with the issue either.

Running a socket 775 Intel system with an X38 chipset. Catalyst 9.12s work fine and my monitor will enter suspend mode.

9.12 -> 10.1 CCC fails to start... again. This is practically ever other release. I officially have a fear of upgrading from a working set now.

Bugs suck but statements like the above are pretty ridiculous. If you want your monitor off, turn it off.

So if AA gets broken, should we just decfocus our eyes to achieve the same effect?

Not analogous. With a broken standby feature, you can still turn off the monitor manually. There is a feasible workaround for this bug, unlike the example you gave.

Exactly, just as if there was a bug that prevented a system from shutting down or going to sleep.. systems have a power button after all.

Going through the registry and manually deleting the old entries followed by a reinstall finally got it working.

there is no fix atm (not aware of), it's a bug in the latest drivers where the display doesn't sleep, a few over at R3D, Anand, XS.org and the other usual haunts showing similar symptoms.

I've noticed when forcing AA in ME2 that performance during the cut scenes is quite poor compared to the rest of the game, I don't think it's a driver bug since I've read of nvidia users having the same issue. I'm guessing the game doesn't like having AA forced.

I wonder what ever happened to that native DX10 AA that was talked about with UE3 games when UT3 was first announced.

Yes, I found that as well. Drags my 5870 down to ~14FPS with 12x Edge detect and 16x AF. But the game itself runs very well. Depending on where I am, Anwhere from 28FPS to 57FPS. It runs at 48-57FPS through most of the game at 1200x1920.

    Tough!

Edit: Oops, almost forgot. That is with the beta 9.12's.

Did you rename the exe then? Otherwise AA wouldn't even be applied anyway.

Well, apparently I found one isolated area where the grey striped screen is still a problem on my system. And very reproduceable.

Use Windows for a while, play games, watch video, whatever. Go into sleep mode. Wake up. Play a 3D game or watch a video with EVR and it will give the grey stripped screen. The ATI driver will attempt to recover, but unless you close the application quickly it'll grey screen permanently and lock up the system.

I didn't notice this for a month because I hadn't played many games in the past month and for a few weeks I had to leave this particular machine on 24/7.

Going to have to see if hibernate will trigger the same problem or not.

    Regards,
    SB
