Athlon XP = no PCI-Express

AMD HAS CONFIRMED that it will not include support for PCI Express for future Athlon XP processors.

Smart move and very good news for the industry as a whole as it means people wanting to upgrade to PCI-Express on their Athlon XP systems will have to spend a lotta dosh

A64 here I come.. (in a few months at any rate).

I can't imagine many people looking to upgrade their motherboard staying with an XP anyway. The platform is pretty much dead, isn't it?

The XP platform is on the decline, but it won't be dead for a while.

From a production standpoint, the crossover point to more A64 cores won't be until Q4 2004, according to AMD.

Overall, the number of A64 chips sold is around 750000, compared to millions of AXPs.
