It does all of its rendering in textures. I have no idea why... it looked to me like they were just using a texture as a backbuffer and then copying it to the flipchain. Not too slick.

Perhaps they wanted to do some post processing on the rendered images?
If they want to support FSAA, it should be possible to create a multisampled render target, right? I still think it's strange why so many games do not support FSAA natively.

That is one benchmark I'm sure would raise a few eyebrows if it were added to a benchmark suite.

Think about it: if Beyond3D used it, they would attract a whole new demographic of enthusiast!

However, it might prompt other sites to try to one up this addition and devote whole sections to the picture quality and AA performance.

Just a warning though, I'll swear off B3D forever if I ever read this in a review: "This new architecture is not without some glaring faults. As you can see, enabling AF introduces artifacting and a bizarre kind of texture aliasing on the smooth, young flesh."

I'm afraid I would be so shocked as to cause my monocle to fall and break in my glass of champagne. (edit: That would be a neat emoticon, though.)

I suppose this benchmark will look like this in Forceware 53.xx (but it will be much faster, so what's a little quality degradation between friends) ?

<laughs> Might just be an indication that the reviewers are having a mid-life crisis. ;)

so how do you instal a .lzh file? What format is this? Where is the installer for the benchmark?

Just worked it out Winrar - but thank god all the menus are in Japanese

What is the Japanese fascination with pre-pubsecent girls?

old school compression. along with LHA, it was the compression format of choice for Amigas. for whatever unfathomable reason, it seems to be the compression scheme of choice in Asia. I think WinRAR opens it.

LZH = Lempel-Ziv. Not sure where the H came from (maybe the author of LHA: Haruyasu Yoshizaki?).

Does anybody have any idea what the options do? It seems to look the same if I change them but runs much better. Or I could be going blind....

That's Lempel-Ziv-Huffman. Was quite popular not only on the Amiga, but also the good old Atari.
