With recent discussions directly addressing or spilling into the lighting models, I thought the following would be appropriate.

The department of Computer Science at the University of Aarhus has released a report about a study group that took place in the spring of 2002. Three lighting techniques were examined - ray tracing, radiosity and photon-mapping.

The report has been released online and you can find it here.

    The contents are as follows:

    1. Problems and solutions for CG (computer graphics)
    2. Basic introduction to light models
    3. Techniques:
    3a. Ray tracing
    3b. Radiosity
    3c. Photon mapping
    4. Comparison
    5. Definitions
    6. Literature
