Kaveri slides from some other forum: http://chinese.vr-zone.com/88362/am...-channel-need-to-wait-until-2014-feb-10272013 "New audio coprocessor" "High performance, low latency, low power, audio processing" "Console class gaming audio and movie theater surround processing"
Okay, that works. So Realtek could offer DDL licensing as an optional download, but they don't. I think they should. As it stands, 95% of all the audio chipsets they sell which are capable of DDL don't enable it.
Here's the slide for TrueAudio in Kaveri: I think the amount of customers looking for such a product is probably really small. The "OMG I've got DIGITAL speakers!!!" fad is now gone, and most prefer to use a sound card with good DACs with analog PC speakers or USB headsets. Those who really care about sound (and can afford it) are now using HDMI sound connected to an A/V receiver. Sorry homerdog, you may be a dying breed
Noooo! I just want to go from the optical out on my mobo to the receiver and get 5.1 Is that so much to ask Alas, I have no doubt you are right. Not that I'm a dying breed so much as I was never much of a breed to begin with
Yeah it is unfortunate that more Realtek chips don't come licensed for DDL or DTS Connect. It works really well on them when it is available. Can always grab a used X-Fi Titanium though! But yeah the future is HDMI audio. I am not very motivated to grab a new receiver however. I highly doubt the improvement in quality with the BD standards is particularly tangible. The quality of the experience is much more about your home theater setup. Heck, I am often satisfied with Dolby Pro-Logic decoding.
Got one to sell if you want ... ( Titanium ) Now, for be honest, im more in DAC + active speakers ( like yamaha ones ).. costly but good.. So if True Audio could push my 2.0 active system to 24:1 .. thats perfect. ( or i miss something )
LOL homerdog it seems it's your lucky day (or week.. this is a week old): Hacked drivers for any realtek chip to get Dolby Digital Live and DTS Interactive.
Lol, that was a carricature, But True audio is able to reproduct 24 channels.... ( sorry i was not clear )..
if BF4 had trueaudio maybe then it would work properly in the soundepartment. not been impressed with the sound since xp and Bf2 cant hear footsteppes msot of the time as inf, just silly.
With Creative's fall, is there anyone out there actually working on OpenAL and trying to advance audio in games, besides emulating position through a stereo source?
Many games today support fairly fancy software-based multi-channel audio. The audio engine middleware out there can do it. Even way back with DirectX 7 there were software multi-channel modes and HRTF options. I am really not convinced that dedicated hardware is needed anymore to make awesome game audio. For example, http://www.fmod.org/fmod-ex/ But you know it's not all about the spec sheet. They have to put some TLC into audio for it to be amazing. It's an art.
No one's working on OpenAL at this time. You can't even officially download the SDK anymore as Creative has taken down all of their OpenAL resources. Even the registration on the OpenAL.org domain name lapsed as of 2 days ago.
http://www.bit-tech.net/news/hardware/2013/11/12/amd-kaveri-apu-details-and-release-date-ann/1 TrueAudio confirmed in Kaveri.
So, if a PS4 game that takes advantage of trueaudio is ported to PC it will automatically benefit TrueAudio GPU owners. Great news!
