Try installing their AHCI driver on a motherboard with SB700. ;)

I had some time and I tried installing the 12.8 catalyst set (HDMI audio, CCC, the SDK, and the Media Foundation encoders) but not the included video drivers.

    No audio problems.

Weird that the 12.8 display driver was causing me grief with my audio. Using the 12.6 video driver with the the other 12.8 stuff is so far ok.

The new betas didn't solve this for me.

Although being a shortcut I guess I can move it out of start-up then i can load it only when needed
so maybe doing it like that does have some merit (the cmd window still makes it look like a last minute hack)
a checkbox in ccc would of been better

Fwiw, if I open a video with MPC Home Cinema or WMP, and presumably have engaged hardware acceleration, then I can play mp3's or open a video with the VLC Player and have sound.

This holds true even if I pause the video in MPC Home Cinema or WMP. If I close the player then I lose audio in WinAmp or the VLC Player.

This is with the new betas.

Hopefully a fix is a trivial matter for the driver team. :hopeful:

    This is a joke.
AMD / ATI has too many problems with supporting Adobe's software.
It is really a shame since now anyone who is after a new machine for those software won't even consider their cards.

Yeah, doesn't work. I've reported it for the last few drivers. Some of the people on the Photoshop support groups are saying you have to go back to 12.2 to get it to work. This is pretty poor as Liquify is one of the most important tools.

BTW, I am assuming that it's supposed to work on Photoshop 64 bit, right?

Ive gone back to 12.2 (says 12.3 in ccc. Amd cant even get that right)
They seem to be the best drivers of the 12 series (pressing the on switch on my 3rd monitor causes an immediate bsod with 12.8)

I have a little theory (no doubt total rubbish, but here it is)
remember amd had 2 code bases being developed in tandem then they decided this was a silly idea (If Amd would of hired a c.e.o of Gaming Goodness they would of known this) and went with just one, well i think they chose the wrong fork.

You sure seem to be having a lot of issues. Isn't there some chance that something else is wrong with your system?

There is that chance of course, but I can and have reproduced my problems many times and narrowed it down to drivers as far as I can and all of my problems disappear with any driver 12.2 or earlier
Ive also done all the amd advice update dot.net vc redist, directx latest windows updates ect

I know you have nicely done Windows setup and configuration, but only for a test can you try and install fresh W7 on separate HDD and then install newest AMD drivers? I suspect most of issues you're experiencing on post 12.2 Cat. will be gone.
I had definitive issue associated with several updated Cat. driver which didn't show up on older version till I did fresh install. Everything else was working correctly in Windows so I was quite surprised by this.

Huh, using the utility from HIS I tried "Disable 2D clocks" and now all seems to be well. I can play mp3's and use The VLC Player.

I should have thought of this earlier but finally I did suspect that this might work.

Obviously this is just a workaround.

I hope the driver crew will wrangle this, the betas floating around offer no joy.
