I guess they have to for cross-platform games. If everyone's using Novodex on XB, to port to PS3 would really need the same physics engine if not to generate headaches (I'd imagine) and all those extra customers would be a :D for Aegia
 
What would a PPU chip be? A clutch of parallel vector units. What is the meat and spuds of the Cell chip? A clutch of parallel vector units. Not surprising to see Ageia producing software for the PS3 really.
 
Its good to know that devlopers gets more friendly tools to work with so the Cell gets more used in the begining, a positive step in the right direction.
 
BTW, I think that it will be software-based on the PS3 means it should not use up more than only a tiny bit of Cell's power. And that means it cannot help too much x86's in even the form of a chip... (So it can probably be a substitute for about one, or perhaps two x86-float-power, but not more, I might think.)
