DW, it's from Little Feats' Time Loves a Hero, released in 1977:

    My baby called me up
She said, "Why don't you ever take me out?
Pick me up in your brand new car
You shake the short change from your old fruit jar"

I put on my dancin' shoes
We headed straight for the rhythm and blues
The music was hot, but my baby was not

I've got a rocket in my pocket

Music & lyrics by Lowell George......

Nope, the song I actually totally misquoted was:

I swear I've heard him sing the song with my version of the lyrics, but I've seen him live a LOT over the years and it could have just been at one of his shows. (I've been going and seeing him about every other year for the past 3 decades or so, seriously! :) )

 soz  just had to...

Now what was the topic :?:

I'm actually coming round to the possibility that nv40 is actually really 16pipes rather than really 8

I wish someone would give us some mystery benchies of r420 to debate the validity of

Tag, I forgot, did he say they were flyby later? Because most of the rest of his numbers look practically spot-on. Are you just trying to remind us that he was mistaken as to the test, or that he was BSing? :)

Wavey achieved no more than 55fps in any resolution.

Just revisiting to point out that I was not making a baseless accusation.

Having said that, however, GeForce6 is indeed very impressive.

I don't think anyone accused you of a baseless accusation, just perhaps an overly hasty one. But it's not like his constantly changing system specs gave more reason to trust him, so I don't think you were wrong to be suspicious.

If Wavey used the same demo as FS did in their own NV40 preview, then his system would appear to be *far* more CPU-limited, as FS got the NV40 up to 74fps @ both 8x6+4x8 & 10x7+4x8 with a 3400+. It's possible Vegetto's family member's (cousin's uncle's maid's college roommate's) Opteron's extra bandwidth could kick the ceiling up to 80fps, but that's even assuming he used the same demo. I remember seeing another UT2K4 score hitting 80 at 12x10+4x8, though it dipped to the 60s at 16x12+4x8, so in that sense Vegetto's post seemed optimistic. But I think its possible his demo wasn't a botmatch, or wasn't very long, or didn't have a lot of bots, as NV40 does seem able to achieve those scores in UT2K4. The fact that he pegged the other scores AND the clock speeds earns him the benefit of the doubt, IMO.

These Xbit scores are indeed larly inline with Vageito's.

What I am more interested in is where did the 4xOGSS+9-tap shots come from? Where they taken on a different card or does NV40 support all the legacy Nvidia AA modes, such an Quin. 2x and 4x, 4xS, 6xS, etc?

3dceneter had two NV40 articles? Excellent work as usual.

Interestingly, unofficial 8xM mode provided quality very similar to the official 8x mode, while being ~50% faster. In fact, there seems to be something seriously screwed up with 8x AA, since the two 16x AA modes are significantly faster as well.

Altought, this still doesn't seem to explain those 4x Quincunx shots.
