So does anyone know why Raven is NOT doing it this time around? I loved both SOF games and spent many more hours then I'd like to admit playing SOF2 INF Mod on-line :)

They are working on a new Wolfenstein game. They do have 3 teams, though, I believe. One may still be working on Quake 4 content.

not sure, maybe sof2 didnt sell too well
and their last 2 games were rpg's so maybe thats the direction they want to go in

Quake 4 and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance? Plus the next game is set in the Wolfenstein setting and I doubt it'll be a RPG.

My guess is simply that Activision wants to cash in on a known franchise. Though those who find out its being developed by the Value studio of Activision will probably certainly be turned away. This game will die or thrive on its reviews. If the developers can continue the success of SOF2 multiplayer (still one of the more played MP games out there) then it should do decent, especially considering it probably has a pretty low budget.

Seperations points (in Soldier of Fortune) are various points on a model, which if you shoot them, can take off body parts. Shoot him in the stomach, his intestines fall out. Shoot his hand, it blasts apart and splatters away. Shoot his knee with a highpowered weapon, and you sever his leg... Get it?

    I can't wait.

*edit* Oh and my favourite, shoot their exposed intestines and blast THOSE open

    Poor grunts

Yay! I'm so happy they're including the "nasty" bits again! This time I hope they include it in multiplayer, no better way to really make someone feel bad than by slicing them into pieces!

Ahaha, I remember doing that. Man was that fun... Kill your friend and just sit there knifing away, taking off arms, legs, heads, torsos. This is 'fun' violence.

Lest hope that when you shoot a bad guys arm off he shouts at you "A mere flesh wound"

That really was the best part of SoF for me, the true variety of ways you took guys down/apart....added sick replay value fun.

This could be the game of the year for me when it comes out, just hope they go more for the original game than the sequel.

Heh, I remember the first time I played SoF, on my TNT2 Ultra + P2 250mhz system @ 640x480. I remember rounding the first corner and shooting that guy that pops out in the knee and just watching him writhe and scream holding his knee. Then I shot him there again and it took his leg clean off, resulting in him screaming more and trying to crawl away (well, it looked like that anyway)... I remember just thinking "Holy shit, this is realistic!". Because i'd never seen anything like that in a game before, it really added to the intensity of the situation. Shoot a guy a few times and watch him limp away or drop down clutching his leg, was very satisfying (especially in comparison to 'shoot 5 times, enemy drops' in just about any other game at the time). That and SoF 1 had a rocking soundtrack and fantastic cutscenes / voice acting (and I loved the interface).

Pity my system crashed in 3d games after 20 seconds... but it got me hooked.

LOL....SOF definitely had a totally new definition of "headshot"....One minute it's there, the next minute.....whoa...I can't believe they can show that! hahaha

Weapons like the slugthrower just made an absolute mess of enemies......Twisted, yet sinfully amusing....

What about the Microwave Pulse Gun?

Damn, I have to reinstall it. Did anyone ever make anything to do with graphics overhauls for SoF1 by any chance? Sort of like Duke3d's HRP? That's always cool... or even just general mods that make the game better?

I used to love that Slugthrower, such a meaty, devestating and awesome sounding weapon.

Not that I know of, but I'm gonna go looking now as I'd re-install it for that too!

No it isn't, this is all VIRTUAL violence we're talking about and I'm pretty sure all involved in the discussion would never consider doing such things IRL...it's just fun in the game.

You can't blur the walls there, it's bad. ;)
