I originally posted @AnandTech, but figured some folks here would also be interested in this.

I'm guessing it's nothing to be excited about... When the 7600GS was launched, it had the exact same message saying something about a new GF being launched. You just had to forward it and it showed you that you could get your 7600 today. So it's probably the same flashmovie. ;)

I too am not going to get excited. Their count downs have proven to me, to be pathetically lame, in the end result.

77 days is a lot of hype time just for a mobile GPU. Especially when the Go 7900 GTX and GS are already out. IIRC the 7600 only got about 7 days lead time.

That would be arround the 14th or the 15th of July, right ?
Almost 13 months after 7800 GTX, interesting...

Not to rain on anybody's parade, but I would hope a new GeForce is coming! Otherwise NV might be out of business ;) *Sarcasm mode on*

the more realistic idea may be that its an error, something left over from one of the previous launches...why would nvidia bother wasting advertising space for a 2 and a half month countdown timer. doesnt make sense. They're in the business of making GPUs, obviously the chances of releasing a product within that time are very good. My opinion is you cought the webmasters sloppy work.

Btw, ATI will release a new VPU within 77 days...or so

Given my experience with sloppy webmasters, that sounds pretty plausible

Normally these advert count-down timers have a hard-encoded date within them and they use your PC's timer to show the days:hours:mins:secs countdown.

This advert is prolly designed to start appearing a month before the release, not 2.5 months. It was just a slip-up that it appeared early.

For all we know, this might be when 7950GX2 or whatever the hell it'll be called is actually going to release.

I wouldnt be surprised if this applet sits idle most of the time until they put a date in and it works.

77 days would put it in early July wouldnt it? That to me seems a bit early for the G80, but who knows.

would be a bit strange since they're outspoken with havok against ageia. i think you can scratch that off your list.
