not sure what jvd is talking about, the first people who got in on the 417$ deal got the ship date of the 20th, which has been pushed back and we are all still waiting. my orignal ship date was the 23rd and obviously that isn't going to happen either but i'd imagine dell will have them just as soon as anybody and the price is going to be hard to beat.

right, so so far its only been a delay of 1 day and it's looking like 5 at least. also, the "some" part of your comment is rather missleading; unless you know people who have actually had theirs shiped?

I'll take Things that happen when you can't argue with someone on a technical level for $100.

BTW, to set the record straight, there are some hardcore ati people on hardocp just like any forum - and of course, if someone expresses an opinion that differs from theirs some attempt to character assassinate if they cannot win their technical or logical argument. So yeh, those people will be anywhere... Plenty of people talk about you dig, I just have the class not to go posting it around the web, that's the difference. And no, HardOCP is not where I "started out at."

no you don't get it, everyone's order has been pushed back as far as i have seen; not "some" as you suggested. also, the delay from me isn't looking like 2 days, dell's order status page doesn't even give me a date anymore so it is hard to say when they even think they might be able to get the card to me.

and its all relative to when you ordered. If i had a date of shiping for the 20th and was pushed back to the 25th and you had one on the 23rd and was pushed to the 27th it be the same delay .

I got an email from them perhaps when your ship date comes and goes you will be updated . Having friends that work at dell i know i will recieve my card before the 30th.

How's memory supply supposed to be the limiting issue when they can afford to put -GC16s on Pro VIVOs?

And as for the -GC20s on NV40Us, I'm with Xmas on that. (unless of course the vendor expressly advertises 1.6ns memory)

ATI recently issued a press release crowing about how they shifted a million PCIe cards, and most of those went to OEMs. When you consider how many OEM wins ATI has compared to Nvidia, how ATI is increasing chip orders while Nvidia is reducing them, and the recent info from the ATI confererence call where they actually *say* they are filling OEM orders before filling retail channels, while predicting massive profits next few quarters. It's pretty obvious where those ATI chips are going.

Basically this generation, Nvidia has concentrated so much on trying to make a card that can beat ATI, that they've taken their eye off what the OEM requires. ATI's cards are much more attractive to the OEM in terms of power, heat and size requirements, and it's showing in the ATI OEM wins and increasing sales to OEMs gobbling up every chip ATI can make.

The majority of those 1 million cards are probably the X600, X300 series and they don't really have that much competition from Nvidia. Ok, the 5700 PCX is an ok card but i don't think it has done that well as an AGP card either. So i don't think that the problem is the power requirements for the 6800 series. It's just that they don't have that much to compete with until they start selling the 6600 series.

And the 6600 series will have to compte with the X700 not the X600. Hard fight again.

Depends on how the prices develop. Seems like NVidia has one more card in between (6800 -> NV41).

I'm not at all convinced about NV41 yet. The only time I've heard of it recently is a "NV41M", which may pertain to an NV40 packaged for mobile and with cut down pipelines. If it is a separate chip with 3 quads then I suspect that, given the transistor counts, ATI will continue with the PRO. I'd also guess that the low end will be NVIDIA's next priority for NV4x, which would probably put NV41 into refresh territory.

Anyway, RV410 = NV43 in terms of market segment.

Well, surely we do not have proof that a user has checked his board to find 2.0ns of mem, but I do.
There is a computer retailer that sells Albatron 6800U's here in Australia, and the mem are 2.0ns modules. I'll post the link when I return to work tomorrow.
In the meantime, I found a link of another computer retailer selling Albatron 6800GT's with 2.2ns mem. That is 909MHz, but the mem is running at 1GHz. That's 91Mhz overclock.

I suppose the computer retailer is in error here?

Even if 100% were delivered with 2.0ns, as Xmas said, what's the point? The guaranty is about 550MHz, not 1.6ns.

How come all the X800 pro vivos has 1.6ns memory then?. I think there are other reasons for XT Pe not showing up.
