The VE3D article they're lifted from is linked above.

There are some definitely promising statements in that preview:
    1. Multiple endings (player actions have consequences! Hopefully they're felt in-game too, and not just at the end...).
    2. Area-based opponent strength (no auto-leveling).
    3. Pause-based combat (I really liked this feature in the Baldur's Gate series...good mix of strategy and action).

We'll have to see how well they do with the humor, the storyline, and how much player actions affect the world. But these little tidbits so far seem quite promising to me.

Call me a hopeless optimist, but I've been reading up on the latest previews and interviews and I must say I'm beginning to believe Bethesda might actually be on the right track. Sure I'd have loved to see Van Buren, but that horse is dead and I actually like what I'm reading/hearing about this "new" F3 lately. Eurogamer has a good writeup.

That gives me an idea...a replay of fallout with low intelligence and high charisma. Wonder how it would go.

    Thank the Lords of Kobol!

I have to say that while I'm still not convinced that RT/Pause function is going to be meaningful Bethesda does seem to be doing some things right. Proper dialogue trees anyone?

And an involving storyline? Because everything Bethsoft has crafted in the past is about as rich and varied as something conjured up on a toilet seat.

Some more previews, though obviously based on the same presentation as the previous ones:

After reading the Eurogamer preview, it looks like there is some autoleveling, but the algorithm has been changed. You can read the preview yourself, of course, but here's what I understood the algorithm to be:

    1. When an area is generated, it is auto-leveled to your current level, and it always remains at that level.
    2. When a monster species is generated, it remains at the level it was generated for the rest of the game.

So it seems like what they are trying to do is make an auto-leveling system that still leaves the player with a sense of advancement. This sounds like it conflicts with what other sites have said, where walking into a high-level area means you die. So we'll have to see.

    Edit:
From reading more, it seems that a possible reason for the apparent conflict is that this game will be much more directed, but still with choices. Thus, the choice of entering one area early might potentially make another area high-level for story reasons.

The Shacknews preview is certainly saying all the right things. I'll freak if they fumble this on the 1 yard line...

Thanks! This one, while described in other previews, I hadn't seen before. A photo from the presentation, rather than a screenshot perhaps?

Oh, and as far as the Shacknews preview 'saying all the right things', I mostly agree with a big exception for this tidbit:
If they allow a character that is useless at Science to overcome such a task as hacking assisted by a player that is skilled (or just persistent) at Mastermind, that is a huge no-no in my book (hello, Oblivion lockpicking).

i agree. big no no, unless they make the minigame so hard you had to be a world champion in mastermind to beat it with 1 in science.

Well, since it's a mastermind game, a really easy way to adjust the difficulty would be to adjust the number of tries allowed. Below a certain number, and the game becomes nigh impossible, no matter how good you are. There seems to be little doubt, however, that good players will be able to operate with a significantly lower science skill than not-so-good players. But I sincerely hope that there are other reasons to work on your science skill in the game.

I've replayed fallouts like 6 months ago, im not saying there weren't "rip offs", but Chuck Norris doesn't fit much there, imo.

Pop culture references are once thing, idiotic internet memes that stopped being funny a year ago are something entirely different.

Okay, your opinion was pretty good on this for awhile. But now you're simply bashing the game already because you don't like a possible funny character addition...
