You are basing all of your performance conclusions on one 3dmark final score?

You'll excuse me if I prefer to wait for some real benchmarks, but I doubt a 325mhz 12 pipe 6800 with 700mhz ram will hang with the X800pro in anything not cpu limited.

ya but a 9800pro is $100 cheaper yet... what's your point? I can get less performance for less money?

My point is, it's normal that it doesn't beat the X800pro, because it's a cheaper part. Otherwise, well the competitor would be in big problem.

Well perhaps you should read the statement I was replying to then?

I read it, and my answer is still the same. Perhaps you should read the first post you quoted. He didn't speak of X800pro, and it's normal that the X800pro beat a 6800.

What was the point of your post? More performance for more money?

Their X800P 3DM03 score seems low. I Googled for another one and came up with close to 10K. That makes more sense, as I really doubt a X800P with 12 pipes at 475/450MHz should be slower than a 6800 w/12P at only 325/350MHz (and potentially less refined drivers).

I had seen some X800 PROs listed at $349. That's only $50 over the $299, no? Maybe it was just a few pricing glitches, but I distinctly remember seeing it being sold at the $349 price.

He is comparing public prices, not what resellers prices.

From the original quote, because you seem reading impaired.

I can repost again in bold or maybe all caps if you think that will help.

But yes he did speak of X800pro, didn't he?

I think my work here is done.

Yeah i didn't see the X800pro, my bad. AFAIK, 3dmark is not CPU limited.

Of course enabling AA should give a big advantage to the X800 pro.

PS: less performance with less money is the same as more performance with more money

128MB and 256MB. I've seen some places advertising the Gainward 6800NU 256MB Golden Sample, but being a GS and Gainward they are pretty expensive, even more than a GT.

Do not be mad at me! I just forwarded this info. You know, Chinese Gov asks for 20% tax on import chips. So if you recalculate 2499 back into USD, it will only cost $250(2499/1.2/8.24=250)! At this price, ATi will launch X800se, which performance is not regarded as high as 6800nu. otherwise it will impact X800Pro. So for the next gen. video card, 6800nu is terrific at perf/prc, right? :p

PS, I agree with you on 'Now NV needs to hurry up and ship some of their cards '

Please tell me all about the X800se performance. What are the specs?

And we basically know nothing about 6800 nu performance. 5950 cards can be over 8k 3dmarks on some driver sets.

Yeah, I agree with you. I've noticed on some site with P4 3.4E, by default setting their score is 95xx
    http://www.pconline.com.cn/diy/graphics/pc/0405/377373_17.html

I think it is due to the driver version. Cat4.5 is a little bit lower than the previous beta ver. pconline used the beta ver of ati_040420a2-015166E-x800 for X800XTPE and cat4.5 for X800P. Furthermore, P4 E is marginly slower than P4 C at the same frequency.

I do agree with AlphaWolf that any judgement should base on real game tests. Since they have not done the game tests yet. 3DMark just give us an overview.

For your information, the cat4.5 beta is compiled later than the official cat4.5. But the beta was the drivers that sent to reviewers. Why?

And the official cat4.5 seems to have a drop of about 1000 points in 3dmark03 make you wonder.

Newer compiler. Plus, both versions were approved by FM.
