which output would you guys recommend for gaming on a 42" plasma 1024x1024? it supports both 720p and 1080i but for games that are native 720p which res would look or perform better? thanks. i couldnt find a specific thread after a search.

Your display doesn't have the resolution for either. 720p needs 1280 x 720 and 1080i needs 1920 x 1080 to be pixel perfect.

Edit: After reading your post again. I would go for 720p as that would be closer to a 1:1 pixel mapping.

For games which are 720p native, 720p. No-brainer. For games that can render in 1080p or 1080i natively, I guess 1080i might be better. Maybe. But I'll bet it would be hard to tell the difference. Take 5 minutes to do an experiment and if you can't tell the difference, does it really matter? They will both look good.

P.S. 1024x1024 is a retarded resolution for a 16x9 display, and if the Internets are correct these panels are actually natively interlaced, which is even retardeder.

Experiment on your own! Doesn't matter what people you think are more experienced than you think about something if you can't even tell the difference or don't put much value in the difference.

well, 1080i does look considerably sharper but also less vibrant than 720p, i'll stick with 1080i for now for the extra pixels. thanks for the replies.
