X360 Back Compat Update *

Why did they list MechAssault 2 as "New"? Updated profile?

That's what I want to know. My son just re-bought a used copy Sunday and has been playing it, before this latest update. One thing I think that works now is that we weren't able to download the free multiplayer maps until now.

I checked out the update lastnight.

JSRF (updated): version that comes on the SegaGT/JSRF combo disc now works (before it refused to launch saying that the game isn't supported)

SegaGT (updated): playable now.. before it ran like absolute crap (like you're driving through molasses)

PGR: runs fine if you're the only car on the track... bogs down with opponents (similar to the previous SegaGT issue)

PGR2: runs a lot better than PGR does with opponents.. still slowdowns here and there on various tracks

I'd still like to see Enclave and Rallisport Challenge 2 added.

I just want Halo 2 to run smooth in heavy action, but I can't check to see if the update helped because my 360 is getting RMAed. Anyone notice improvement in Halo 2?

If you look at the list a handful of posts up there isn't a line that says "Halo 2 - Updated" so chances are it wasn't touched.

Oh, well... I guess it's a good thing they're still working on it.

How compatible is compatible? Do they provide a list of known issues? At the Snowblind Studios forum someone was suggesting that Dark Alliance 2 was a mess in BC.

I vaguely recall someone mentioning that for the least important titles they just pop in the disc and see if the emulator they use works or something... very vague recollection.. hm... i.e. for the games that make use of the high-level coding.

Wasn't there a big discussion on ring zero or ring something way back? It was with regards to ninja gaiden and halo 2 and all that software BC discussion.

Pretty sure i remember reading Escape from Butcher Bay would never make it over due to engine issues which is why they undertook the remake Assault on Dark Athena

Infact i found it

Ian Stevens: For a while we were trying to get the original game onto the backwards compatibility list for the Xbox 360 and Microsoft seemed to have some pretty fair reasons why it couldn't do it. We were disappointed with that conclusion and we've seen the same disappointment in the community, so we felt compelled to find some kind of way around that.
