codec issue?

I have this weird problem. I'm using Windows XP and the latest codecs.

No matter what player I use, brightness level of videos is very very low. (wmp10, mp classic, divx -- mpg, avi, wmv). I've downloaded latest codecs from divx.

However, videos from Youtube are ok...

Is this a codec issue? Did I download wrong codecs?

Thanks.............

Have you checked video settings in your driver control panel & in the player? Good chance you'll find that either boosting gamma/brightness will fix that for you.

I did that...... Everything is normal.

The thing is, jpg and youtube videos are ok......

I had the same problem. I just bumped RGB gamma in the drivers like this:

FW 97.94, 8800GTX, XP Pro SP2.

No matter where the problem is, I suggest using FFDSHOW instead of DivX, Xvid etc codecs, it handles them all and more

It is NOT a gamma or brightness level issue in the video drivers.....

I think it's something else.

I'm using an IBM T60 with it's 1440x900 native resolution.....

I'll try hooking up a CRT monitor later and see what happens.

----- noob alert! ------

I overlooked the overlay settings of the Intel Mobile Graphics media settings..... grrrr..
