Wow! nice December for the 360.

What's the rule of thumb for the NPD numbers again? Add 20% for those who don't report to NPD?

I do not see any loosers in this list honestly :) (DS for N, PS2 for Sony and 360 for MS)... However, great result for MS in next-gen race

Wow, these numbers are shockingly lower than expected on several fronts.

Xbox360 was figured to come in at up to 1.5m for the month, so it's slightly disappointing there.

But the real shocker is Wii, I'd seen estimates to 1.3m for the month. Even speculation it might top X360. Yet in reality it barely tops PS3?

PSP on the other hand, amazingly high. Almost two thirds of the juggernaut DS.

Basically looking at these numbers, Sony is a huge winner (great PS2, PSP, and even solid PS3 sales) while Nintendo has to be disappointed.

The two real standouts are:

High PSP sales.

Much lower than expected Wii sales.

Never mind all this, according to GAF these numbers are totally fake. Real #'s at 6:30 Eastern time.

Can someone put the URL to the official page of the NPD?

The DS does well in US but its really crazy market is Japan. DS and PSP are rather close in the US. I think it should be added that the DS is a crazy seller, but the PSP is actually selling rather well and it has done a lot better than I thought. It was a good month for Sony overall, solid sales across the board really.

I am curious about the miscalculation though, the numbers do seem rather low to me. I expected higher Xbox 360 and Wii, PS3 is a bit above what I expected (supply issues a bit over stated).

Historically, December sales are approximately double that of November sales. PS2, X360, and PSP all fit this pattern. DS is underperforming. Wii and PS3 don't count. If there's a recount, I can't say there will be big changes. This is probably pretty close to the real numbers except for maybe the DS sales.

what amazed me is the number of ps3 retailers have at theirs hands if these numbers are close to reality 8O again...

Given the sales in Nov of ~500k, not many were expecting 1.5 in dec for 360. Those expectations come from as far back as Oct. So 1.1 is great, and slightly above what people expected, which was around 1million.

PS3 sales are not great, and Wii, wow with a reported 4million sold WW I expected ALOT more.

PS2 continues to be ridiculous! 1.3mill!

These numbers are all fake until further notice.

SonyCowboy at Gaf is supposedly bringing the real numbers at 6:30 PM Eastern.

They should be hitting various media outlets soon as well.

Uhh where on GAF does it say these numbers are incorrect?

EDIT: it appears GAF has now confirmed what I posted. Updating my first post with the software numbers.

Should I pat my back? Looks like the numbers were basically the same.
