GT has the best sound of any console racer I've ever played. Granted, I haven't played any of the Xbox/360 racers, just a lot of PS2 titles.

Sounds like an improvement to me http://youtube.com/watch?v=TjyUz-IQPwU

compared to last GTs.

Wow thats pretty cool. Since 90% of vids so far are from replay mode, its nice to hear an cockpit view.

Big V8s do have a distinctive sound but I'm hoping they can also capture the more sutle sounds of various Inline 4s, 6s and boxer configurations..... along with the usual v12s and such.

Something like this sound....:oops::oops::oops:......:D

good stuff from around 30seconds.... heaven around 1min:smile:

Native resolution and LOD would be 2 tradeoffs to begin with... framerate fluctuation? ;)

Ah fair point. Resolution. But tbh I prefer 720p with 4xAA....

The framerate fluctuation was reduced a lot in the online patch.

Oh and I wou;tdn't call either of these tradeoffs for GT5...since these are obviously things their working on (framerate especially). And I expect it's already been tightened up, since we're going to be having splitscreen now.

So at this point is it safe to assume that their engine is more or less finalized or can we expect major changes/additions come GT5?

Its the one place that still seems very last gen. Actually very few racing games have been able to accurately recreate the engine sounds of actual cars.
Actually owning one of the cars in GT, I can assure you the engine noise isn't as bad as you make it seem.

They record all the cars they can get their hands on from many different angles, then put the sound in the game. The subaru noise is very realistic compared to a standard model. Maybe they use a generic engine noise on some cars, but some cars are spot on.

The weather system and it's effects on the car like severe wind pressure etc , hasn't been added yet, nor damage system for rally and racing cars.

from around 30 to about 47 seconds, that f40 sounds like my hedgehogs coughing. After that though, that Ferrari sounds almost as a Formula One car.

though nothing beets a pair of NK-25 turbojet engines in my book in terms of heavenly orgasmic sounds .

Question: Is it safe to assume that the US/EU versions of this game will have a different Intro and menu music/ingame soundtrack from the JP counterpart or it should be the same?

I quite love the music playing playing on the jpn version and I would hate to get some americanized rubbish instead

Ingame soundtrack is already americanised....

Some more shots here, which also seems to reveal the High Speed Ring. Not exactly the track I was hoping for as a sixth track for Prologue, but if that's it, then so be it:

The paint on that F40 is wonderfully modelled though.
