Any simple full harddrive encrypters out there?

I'm looking for a hard drive encrypter (for windows xp) that would encrypt whole hard drives (250-750GB, single partition) and not just some 50GB containers. I imagine a simple one would just allow you to encrypt a disk even if its already full and would only ask for password when accessing them. Any suggestions?

I assume the native NTFS encryption has a few of the gottchas that you mentioned?

Do you want a hardware or software solution?

If software is acceptable, why not just get PGP and make up a 4kbit key or something and encrypt away... Hardware - or at least hardware that is affordable - is sure to be much MUCH less secure with maybe 128-256-bit keys. I guess we should assume all sorts of authorities have backdoor access/master keys to any form of consumer encryption products.
