Intel Conroe architecture

Is it known yet? I mean, in detail?

AFAIK, it's a Pentium-M on steroids. I think that's actually a very nice move from Intel. Those Pentium-M's are great processors. But the memory interface still leaves a lot to be desired. So, at last some good competition for the desktop market (games, mostly), but it won't work very well for servers.

In any case, that would mean that they've totally abandoned the Pentium 4 line and are back on track with the third model based on the Pentium 3, with a (slightly) better memory interface, the same low power consumption and more execution units than the Pentium M.

I wonder what I will buy for my next upgrade in about a year from now, but I will still recommend Opteron servers (with the new AM2 socket) to companies.

Conroe looks great. I want one.

I've been on the AMD train a long time now. My latest Intel CPU was a P3 800 MHz.
