I'd really like to see if these claims are even remotely true... as at the moment it just sound like they're claiming to be able to perform magic...

Umm... you guys realize this is now both a ps3 and 360 game, right?
Regarding the truthfulness of their claims... well, the EDGE journalists saw the PS3 demo running and apparently it looked great. Obviously, they don't know how much processing power it was using. We'll see, eventually, I guess.

My first post on beyond3d was in regards to Wardevil and the claims made by its developers.
Many months ago, someone claiming to have intimate knowledge of the project wrote an irate post on a different forum. His post on the matter was soon removed (but not soon enough to avoid being copied and pasted elsewhere) and soon after Digi Guys put out a statement claiming that all was well with the project.
The fact that we still havnt seen a scrap of realtime gameplay from this company suggests that this person was giving an accurate account of how the Wardevil project was going.
