Does the rest of the game look substantially better than the downloadable demo?

I found RR6 to be a lot more fun and to overall have a better look to it (the track you got to play on RR6 demo vs the PGR3 demo was a lot more impressive looking).

I don't mean to be a drag (since this is an appreciation thread), but I've been wondering ever since I dl'ed the demo last week. It just wasn't very impressive -- certainly not as impressive as the hype/excitement and photo mode shots I've seen made me believe.

What's in the demo?

Again, watch the Nurburgring video.

EDIT: I highly doubt RR6 has better tracks... There is nothing like racing across the brooklyn bridge into New York.

There's a world of difference between photo-mode and in-game, huge.

With that said, PGR3 for me it really depends on the track, the night-time courses are really really nice, and any track without a fence or guardrail to shimmer, also really impresses me.

I've never played the demo so I'm not sure.

For all the things I love about the GT series, I think the introduction of a photo mode was possibly the worst thing they could have done... now it seems like an acceptable thing to add to games. (I think GT series was the first that added a photo mode, wasn't it?)

I'm not sure what track was in the demo though (it was in a city), and I'm not a huge racing fan (GT series keeps my racing needs fully met), so I probably won't be picking PGR3 up unless I found it for dirt cheap. I'm sure parts of the game are impressive, just the demo didn't leave me wanting to run out and buy the game, that's for sure!

With all that said, the photo mode shots in the OP do look really nice, no doubt.

The only thing photo-mode does is bump the resolution to a true 720p and add full AA. That is, if you don't use any aftereffects.

One of the first shots up there isn't even photomode, it's the car promo during the race countdown...

Well I don't actually ever use Photo-mode, I was more referring to the garage, where ALOT of these screens are taken from. The lighting and car models in the Garage are simpyl stunning, the HDR lighting in there is some of the most realistic I've ever seen. I assumed photo-mode was the same quality, as alot of the car models shown in screen grabs from photomode seem to be on that same level.

If only the actual game looked like that.

I’m so unbelievable tempted to get a 360 for this game and I don’t think I can hold out till Forza 2 comes along, but the one thing that I just don’t understand is why give people a photo mode but don’t give them a way to take them off the system to share or print?

I think GT4 was the first with a p-mode, it was okay to play with for a while, but seemed to really catch on because of the fact that people could upload them through the USB and on to forums.

Did Bizarre ever give a reason for it? Maybe they just ran out of time?

I thought Xenos had to do tile render to get HDR?

Given that nothing else can be transferred from the Xbox 360 other than save files... hm...
I wonder if it's more a "fault" of tightening the security of the system. In which case, it could have been a time factor in implementing something that wouldn't open up the 360 to transferring files other than screenshots. But that's just my paranoia speaking.

It's already been done, some guy on the Bizarre forums exported a whole bunch of photo mode shots. I think he used the SATA adapter method to his PC to extract the files.

woops - jabjab beat me to it ;)

Doesn't it have to tile render to do anything at 720p?

Why don't you go take a look at the gfx in the garage and let me know what you think of the lighting.
