Interesting
Enchant Arm ($66) at #13
and PGR3 ($61) at #18
That's not too bad...

This is interesting too. The #5 game is a ps2 game which costs $111 USD
Gunparade Orchestra: White Chapter (incl. Limited Edition)

But probably most interesting is that DOA4, the game that was going to save the 360, did not even make it to the top50.

I agree that eM and PGR is not bad.

With DOA4, i htink that the userbase is so small now and their game library is so limited, theyre probably getting these games ASAP the first week and then everyone who wants it has it. THere isnt really a 'long tail' to games on a console with such a small userbase and library. IIRC though, it did sell well when it was released.

So couldn't that be a problem with most if not all games that come out for the X360 in Japan?

Sales slowed down heavily it seems. Kind of strange to see sales being nearly an order of magnitude greater just a month earlier.

It's doing pretty well here though. I think Team Ninja already views Japan as their secondary market, and NA as their primary.

Most likely due to the month earlier being holiday season.

Speng.

So we finally have a detailed list of numbers as reported by Famitsu (sadly only up until Jan 15th). Given that these numbers line up very closely with Microsoft's reported figures in their financial review, it suggests that Famitsu [nee Enterbrain] are their tracker of choice (I do wonder why Moore would discredit them though)

Yes the numbers we've been previously discussing were Media Create, who generally track lower than Famitsu as a rule of thumb. I cannot give you an exact reason why this is, but I believe it is down to their differences in how they extrapolate data. Hopefully, someone who follows the Japanese market more closely could offer some guidance here.

Regardless though, either can be used to observe trends in sales but neither are very good for saying "Yes this is how many units have sold" with the truth probably somewhere inbetween.

Odd that Kameo is not out in Japan yet, considering it`s the most anime of all.
It's in Disney style but not Disney, which is a big letdown. The same thing can be said for PDZ, its art style is very different from that of Japanese anime if you know what today's anime are like. Besides Kameo gets sometimes grotesque like Conker. It was released in Japan yesterday, but I expect subpar sales. It's said that one of the big mistakes of Microsoft Japan was they put nothing but Kameo on kiosks at the launch in Japan.

Yes, I'm sure that's something very relevant to thread labelled "XB360 launched in Japan"...

If you want to talk about how well DS is doing, take it to it's own thread.

Maybe he was inferring that the X360 number isn't so bad once you see how much DS is beating PSP- about 3.3:1. Of course, that then brings attention to the fact that "last gen" PS2 is beating "current gen" X360 by a whopping 12:1! :D Of lesser note ;) , PS2 is also beating GC by 8:1.
