Saw this a few days ago, 230/1000 japanese plan on buying a 360? That was a shocker. Especially with only 110 of them actually owning an xbox.

It took them this long to tally the results? :???: Or did they plan on publishing the numbers specifically today...

No surprise in terms of Japan's favourite genre.

What I'm surprised to see was that Sony owned the top 2 spots in the "What console do you plan on buying."

I thought the GBmicro was more desired than the PSP.

LOL on the "typing practice" genre that placed 20th.

Love Simulation? That one genre I'm glad that isn't very popular in the US. Gamers are already stereotype poorly as is. Lol.

Very interesting numbers indeed.

Since it's pointless to argue about whether or not a poll like this will come true, we can at least just talk about the poll numbers themselves.

For instance the transition from Current PS2 Owners to Future PS3 buyers we see nearly a 15% DECREASE.

From Current PSP Owners to Future PSP Owners we see an increase of almost 13%.

From Current XBox Owners to Future Xbox360 Owners we see a HUGE relative increase of 12% which more than doubles Current XBox Owners. Note that Future Xbox360 Owners also surpass Future Revolution Owners.

From Current GCN Owners to Future Revolution Owners we see huge decrease of over 17% which seems to imply the whole "second console" argument might be weak.

From Current DS Owners to Future DS Owners we see another HUGE increase nearly doubling from 13.7 to 26.8.

That was unexpected. After reading an article at EDGE magazine about XBOX360's presence at TGS I thought it had a very very bad presentation.Japanese didnt seem to care.

But this shows that they did care

On the otehr hand TGS wasnt far away from the console's release while PS3's is still very far and collected almost 72%.The percentage could change greatly now that its released and get reduced

I think it'll be more interesting to see how these numbers change between now and PS3/Rev launches and see if interest increases.

If I was a betting man I'd say that Xbox360 gained a few places because of the imminent launch that has gotten people excited -- and Rev/PS3 will experience similar boosts on polls closer to their launch. It's only natural to be excited about something thats nearly in reach.

Interesting though.

Not really surprising for the Xbox 360, it was the only playable next-gen console. And it doesn't really represent Nintendo's place, seeing as they don't attend TGS.

Nintendo unvieled the "revolution" at TGS ;)
Poll is interesting, but we don't know when it was taken...the first day would've skewed towards X360 whereas the third may have skewed further to PS3 (think MGS4) and Revolution.

What I think is important is that Final Fantasy is still a dominating powerhouse in Japan, many people try to peg it as diminishing importance.
