Search engine preps porn for video iPod
Guba to convert video files into format used by Apple's player

It may not be quite what Steve Jobs had in mind, but an online search engine called Guba is set to offer vast amounts of pornography and other video files, specifically tailored for Apple's new iPods.

Guba is a subscription-only search engine that culls video files from the Usenet newsgroups, a huge repository of online content — much of it adult, pirated, or both.

Beginning this month, Guba will convert video files from Usenet into the format used by the iPod, known as H.264. Apple CEO Steve Jobs launched the video-enabled iPod last month along with deals to sell downloadable music videos and TV shows.

Wired has an article explaining why pornographers are staying away from the Video IPod. From the article: 'When it comes to the iPod, Fayling said there are few rewards and many risks. Fayling emphasized the pitfalls of combining a device designed for younger audiences with content they are prohibited from viewing. "There's already a public perception that we (in the industry) are preying on youth," he said. "Without safeguards you open yourself up to more scrutiny from government and parents' groups.'"

can you imagine having sex with an anti porn chick? bleeccch. at least it wouldn't have to happen much. but then imagine what the rest of the time is filled with. BLEECCCH!

funny thing is that porn is always on cutting edge of _ANY_ internet/digital tech.
why?

simple......demand.....;)
 
I used to joke that I learned most of what I know about PCs due to games and porn, funny thing is it's pretty much the truth. :)

not only that... porn will decide Blue-Ray against HD-DVD battle..... if porn indusrty goes for just one of those, other is burried......
rememebr you time on the net and think about what tech did porn industry use at the time.... they are always first adopters.... bloody hell i got pop-unders in Firefox from some fucking porn site.....

as much as it huert conservative US :rolleyes: , pr0n is way ahead in anything connected to net...
distribution, payment services, whatever.....

Hollywood studios can only learn from pr0n publishers.... they (Hollywood) are like 5 years behind in tech...

LOL...true... but they will have to adopt to new standard, and one THEY choose will prolly dominate market....

its not like they have choice to adopt HDTV or not, they just have to pick format... (IMO)

I don't buy it. If this was so, then why do we see so many high res photos in pornography? 1280x720 is about 1MP, far less than even the value cameras out there. I think film cameras are used in some porn (I would assume at least those for the theatres), and they have quite high resolution.

You may be right that some of the really half-assed "studios" won't want it, but there are plenty of people who can make it work, and the demand will be enormous.

I don't think the porn industry is so uniform that they all neccesarily will choose to go the same direction.
