I want to permamently move to a Linux OS

I still want to game.
I still want to develop Windows apps.

Is there any hope for a permanent move?
I really hate deul booting.

I used to use Mandrake 8.1 in conjunction with XP.
I really loved the *nix kernal, it's just so freaking fast and reliable and the resource usage is virtually nothing.

Dual booting is really the only answer, unless there's a way to run an OS within an OS. There's a few emulations of windows for linux, but they are far from fully compatible.

Well, WINE is the freeware emulator and it's not intended for running 3d games.
What you mean is WineX (now called Cedega), which is based on a monthly subscription. You can run a few games with it; but the performance hit is very noticeable. There's a compatibility list online. http://transgaming.org/gamesdb/
