£389 + VAT on the UK web site as well... ah, this is getting to the very tempting point...

I'd go for the wide, if you ask me.

So you can have thick, black bars across the top and bottom of the screen in almost every game? No thanks.

FYI: you are behind reality by a decade, my firend...

PS: Dunno where did you get this crap but anybody told you this, slap him in the face next time you meet him for his lies.
I use widescreen CRT for 2 years now and I haven't had any problem for more than a year now. Even if some game wouldn't come with full support, it takes usually few seconds to edit your config file in notepad.

I've seen it as low as around mid 500s if you wait for the right Dell deal (usually rolls around in cycles a few weeks apart).

I too, am waiting for a widescreen LCD.

Response time? I don't see it...

16. The widescreen version is 12 and has a higher contrast ratio. And yeah, pretty much everything supports widescreen nowadays John.

I love my 2001 lcd. Got 3 of them sitting on my desktop, now if only games would utilize multimonitors. Id be in heaven.

also check fatwallet.com under their hotdeals.
Some people got the 2005 model for UNDER 500$ shipped. When i bought mine, i called dell talked for a bit with their csr, said i was interested in 2 or 3. After a while he gave me a fantastic price on 3 of them and i jumped for it. So maybe if you can get a few people to go in with you, you can even get the price lowered.

I would also recommend the widescreen except that the Dell 2001 widescreen model had problems. Last I checked (which was 4months ago) there was a large proportion of them that were busted, the backlight would shine thru a blackscreen on 1/3 of the screen making weird artifacts. There was a thread in Dells forums about it and it seemed to be a real concern, I would check before you commit.

Under $500 is a GREAT deal. Congrats! I visit FW and a couple of other places as well. I see we at least both love getting a good deal. ;)

My Parhelia did that years ago - I used to run 3x 22" CRTs.
