What ever happened to ...

... Matrox? Anything new for the consumer space in the works?

Judging from the frontpage of Murc the only thing we (currently) have to look forward to is a PEG version of the Parhelia...

And "The Crystal Ball" part of their forum, where there used to be a lot of talk of next-gen cards, is more or less dead. (The only thread active the last 30 days is about the lack of posts there...)

So I'm afraid we'll have a year more before Matrox tries anything new.
(They're on ~3 years cycles, and since Parhelia was announced in 2002, it's not unrealistitc that they may have something for us in 2005 (but that could very well be in Q4)..:)

Lalala - nothing to see here - please move on. Watch the tumbleweed go by.

As MrGaribaldi suggests, the rumour mill is basically empty. Matrox would appear to have all but abandoned the consumer market and is concentrating on a few v. v. v. small niches. Their driver team also seems to have shrunken to such an extent that they cannot fix bugs with games, so taking this as an indication I wouldn't expect anything more from them that approaches a usable gaming card. Possibly ever. Shame :(
