If you could have 1 sports car, what would it be?

Of course, there is always the downside to fast cars...

Heh, the 'weird' section had some interesting stuff...

Aston Martin DB9. Anyone see the Top Gear episode where they raced one to the South of France against Eurostar & trains, and the car won? They don't just look great, they drive great too.

This is a photoshop of the DBR9 version they are building to race with next year. There will be some available to normal customers to the same racing spec, though I think I actually prefer the look of the road version better:

Nahh, don't like those little toy things that are like glorified carts. Give me a refined muscle car with handling and real grunt like the DB9, not one of those lightweight buzzy hairdryers that puts your head below the level of most cars' windows. I want something that'll cruise at high speed in comfort, and cling to those tight corners at any speed, not something that's going to leave you with permanent back damage after fifty miles.

Just look at it. Lotus Elan convertable just screams "girl's car".

You've never driven one then.

Anyway, let me know when you actually own an Aston Martin :)

I did, part of it at least. Anyway; thing is, my mother watches that show. And she's totally uninterested in cars! 8) Pretty funny if you ask me.

Wouldn't want to, especially a convertable. It's a girl's car.

They are getting cheaper all the time, and new versions are coming out that will cost less next year. I'd certainly get a DB9 over a Ferrari, and still have 100k to burn. Besides, I didn't realise you could only choose the cars you could afford to buy - kind of not the point of the thread...

Yeah, they did it very well, it was very funny, especially them phoning each other to take the piss and the way you didn't know right to the end who got their first. The guys' faces when they got off the bus from the train station and got to the casino to see the DB9 parked in front was great.

They have their "cool car wall" and at the end of that item, they unveiled a fridge on the cool end so they could put the picture of the DB9 inside it. So cool it needed it's own extension.

I think that's the same episode where they did the new racing Elise being chased by the Apache trying to get a gun lock on it.

Vipers suck :D

Anyway, I'd probably go with a Mitsubishi 3000 GT VR4. It may not be the fastest, most expensive, best looking car, but it's still one of my favorites. Probably because my dad had one and I learned how to drive a stick (manual transmission) with it. It was great for road trips too, didn't matter if you're crusing down the highway at 95 mph in 6th gear @ 2200 rpm, or driving through the mountains in Colorado. 320hp, twin turbo, all wheel drive, all wheel steering, 18 inch chrome wheels. I miss that car

Other than that, I'd probably go for the new Ford GT.

maosee: that veyron looks nice, unfortunately it isn't working. They had a few test drives, but all that happened was that they blew the motor every time

My favourite is definitely Mercedes-AMG CLK DTM :devilish: :devilish: :devilish: . Close second would be a DB9.

BTW, I drove most of the cars mentioned here, since I worked for Porsche and now for AMG so I know why I choose this one - it's the most overwhelming driving experience I've ever had...

Bugatti Veyron 16/4, naturally. Most beautiful car I've ever seen...

Of course, since it seems the damn thing isn't working I'd have to settle for second-place, 1988 Lamborghini Countach Quatrovalvole...

Hee hee... anyone (in the UK) see the Top Gear program where they demonstrated how to park one of those? Classic!
