GeForce 6800: FP32 blending?

Heathen, that's a very exact and specific statement. nVidia would be accused of false advertising if it were not true. Companies (like politicians) tend to bend the truth all the time, but outright lies, well, are very rare. Unless you can think of another meaning for the statement on that page, what this means is that the instruction limits in PS3 are imposed by the driver, not the hardware.
 
NVIDIA is probably telling the truth here. Just like ATI tells the truth when they say "New F-buffer technology supports pixel shader programs with unlimited instructions" (from the Radeon 9800 Series specifications page). The fact that there's no way to access this doesn't mean it's not there.
 
Well, I don't know about there not being any way to access those available instructions. I haven't seen anybody do the tests in OpenGL yet.
