Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition on ps5, imo avarage presentation but game has realy good atmosphere and I enjoy playing it

Finally managed to buy a PS5.

So currently checking out what I missed and downloaded new Ratched and Clank, Demon’s Soul, Returnal and tried all a bit - nice!

Also downloaded Outriders, which I play a lot on PS4 - although it is not specific enhanced for PS5, the difference in experience is stark. Especially the reduced load times are great.

Also tried out the 3D puls head set…seems ok, but nothing mind blowing yet.

The haptic feedback of the controller is neat.

I still use my old Panasonic plasma TV…so no 4k and HDR…am I missing out?

played a lot of anthem recently, finished the main story i guess.
Too bad it did not lived to the expectations, i like the core gameplay a lot, overpowered iron man, could have been a great game if finished and polished.

I bought the Master Chief Collection on Steam. Really wish I hadn't :( You know there are things that should just be left as childhood memories remembered through a rosey tinted glow.

I'd forgotten how basic they were, how poor the minimap was, and just how tedious and boring some sections of the campaigns are. And how badly they milked it after Halo 2.

Shoulda stayed a memory :(

Thats how it is with all games..... :p I remember MGS2, far cry, GTA3..... mind blowing back then, now its..... things dont age all that well.

HomeFront - The Revolution
Reminds me of Teminator Resistance for some reason - like most open world games there is busy work but just enough that it never outstays its welcome (none of this located 15 of 300 supply caches nonsense, that's often used to pad out a game)

not all, some older games stays good to play
- xenogears
- xenoblade chronicles (but the remake on switch is def better)
- freelancer (does microsoft still owns the IP?)
- destiny 1 (and its still superior to Destiny 2 in some aspects)

dunno for MGS2, FC, and GTA3. hasnt played them again.
but for halo series, yeah, it does have lots of boring moments. I wonder how the heck i can stand those when i played it years ago.

anyway,
now im playing Hellblade again.
But this time not in VR, but in OLED TV + 5.1ch surround sound. The "voices" sounds waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better in VR or non-VR with headphones. But everything else is better compared to in VR.

Although if i am more brave, i think the in VR would be way better. I simply cant stand it in VR. Its waaaaaaaaay too scary. Really felt like people were talking beside me, behind me, etc.

Also grabbed Shenmue 3 on epic discount.... uh.... this game felt like an indie game or early access game. i cant skip cutscenes, i cant change graphic option without exiting the game, the dialogues are stilted and weird, the animation looks dated as heck, the UX got baffling visual FX, etc.

I'm playing too many games right now. I'm in GamePass overload really:

The Ascent - Just started but might put it aside until the inevitable patches improve it.
MS Flight Sim - Fantastic. Done the discovery flights and about 1/2 the training.
Lumines Remaster - Really happy that this one popped up on GP and I'm playing it about 30 minutes every time I sit down to game.

Doom Eternal, DQ XI, Psychonauts, Jedi Fallen Order and Forza Horizon 4 are all calling me, but I keep getting distracted. I also want to finish Halo 2 -> 5 co-op with my son before Infinite comes out, but coordinating that has been tough.

Scarlet Nexus has been a pleasure on the XSX. Same with Flight Simulator and The Ascent.

Civilization 6 is a go on PC consistently.

Finished Ratchet and Clank on Ps5. Likely to move on to Final Fantasy Remake.

Switch won't get played till BOTW 2.

Shadow of the tomb raider. Best Tomb Raider ever. The story is meh, I mean, were the previous stories really great? But the settings (pre-colombian south america which I adore) and the exploration are so well done. I love it. Now I want the next God of War trilogy to be set in the same settings. We have enough Egyptian stuff in games.

Finished The Ascent, really fun game for 30 USD, although I played it on GP.

Actually have some time for gaming, so I'm now diving back into Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Amazing game as well. It certainly takes some liberties with the Yakuza IP, but it works. It's basically a mix of Yakuza with elements of Dragons Quest. Some of the mini-games(?) are also a little whimsical with references to other Japanese game tropes. For example, there's a reference to Pokemon and Digimon with the game's Sugidex where you collect information on Sujimon (basically the criminals that you fight).

Because the combat is turn based, it's a lot more relaxing to play than the mainline Yakuza games. However, that said, the combat can be tough if you aren't good at the combat quicktime events (I'm not. :p). But despite me not being good at those, the game is still a lot of fun for me.

Oh and it's deliciously naughty that the game includes pictures of actual Japanese porn actresses (clothed not nude, you perverts). Imagine a mainstream AAA Western studio doing this with a major release? :D

SB

You never played Wing Commander III?

Yup. :) It's been a long looong time though. There was one former porn actress that wasn't used as a sexual object anywhere in the game. As opposed to dozens, possibly over 100, images of current and former Japanese porn actresses used in obviously sexual settings, both physical and non-physical. :)

Unfortunately for Ginger Lynn Allen (just Ginger Lynn in porn), while she tried to escape the porn world, it wouldn't let her go. While she managed to get out and become a legitimate actress around 1986, it drew her back in around 1999 (after which she did both porn related stuff and mainstream related stuff). WC3 hired her after she'd been away from the industry for almost a decade.

I admire the women that can successfully or semi-successfully transition from porn actress to other things, not least of which because it gives them hope for a more stable future for themselves.

Thanks for taking me back down memory lane. :)

Regards,
SB

Installed Master of Orion 2 and Master of Magic.
Played them quite a bit back in the days, they still have the strong one more turn effect.

Also Installed Wing Commander 3, just to see how FXAA + FSR work. (Most likely will end playing it through again..)
