Such long running bugs are usually a sign of an application side issue.
NVIDIA has completely separate "Issues not caused by NVIDIA" section in their release notes for those.

Nvidia's not having much luck with turbulence smoke in Batman Arkham Knight
Maybe they'll find the smoke generator eventually, WoW Shadowlands was blinking away quite a while too

Yeah I always had the impression that it was bad code in games that cause a lot of issues which Nvidia/AMD provides in-driver workarounds for when they can.

I remember AVP (Aliens Vs Predator) there was a thread about it on the official nvidia forum 2 years+ 24 pages long not a single reply from anyone at NV
people who contacted NV were told the problem could not be fixed. Someone from the community looked at it figured out the problem (z buffer not being cleared afaik) downloaded the source code and fixed it. A couple of months later nvidia fixed it in their drivers - what a coincidence.

Someone from the community also looked at the long loading times of GTA V Online that plagued the games for 5 years, he managed to shorten loading times by 70% with a simple fix, Rockstar implemented his solution 2 weeks later and gave him a prize.

Sometimes developers are too dump or busy to actually fix their game properly.

To be fair to Rebellion the game worked fine on all graphics cards until about 10 years after release and then the problem was only with nvidia iirc

Looks like 47.11 added a new sharpening option to the game filters called Sharpen+:

New Freestyle Sharpen Filter: We have added a new and improved Sharpen+ filter for Freestyle which uses depth to enhance quality

Has a few options: intensity, texture details, invert depth z-axis, invert depth y-axis

People saying it's probably similar to reshade quint delc(depth enabled local contrast) sharpen. Some people reporting about 10% performance hit in some games. Haven't looked at it that closely myself.
