Interesting how this has kind of an Alien horror/suspense setting, yet Housemarque still made a Housemarque-ish shooter out of it. We can see Resogun's particle effect porn in this game.

will check it when price drop (and probably will not sign petition for sequel ;d)

For a Indie titel it looks quite nice i think. Its not for the graphics you'd get this one either, perhaps more for the arcade gameplay and dualsense features.

Housemarque is not top tier studio but also for sure is not indie dev :D it has ~80 employees

Returnal is unlike anything Housemarque has made before, a third-person shooter that plays out with the cinematic scope you'd typically find in the output of compatriots Remedy. It's a lavish production, dense in atmosphere and as much a showcase for the PlayStation 5 as anything we've seen to date (4K60 aside, this does wonders with some of those next-gen gimmicks too, the DualSense and 3D Audio combining for an out there experience that would do William Castle proud).

This isn't the Housemarque you might know from Resogun or Nex Machina yet it's also exactly like those boutique classics, mixing demoscene flex with arcade precision but on a much grander scale. There's an intensity to the action, a readability to enemies and attack patterns, an immediacy that all harks back to the hard-edged classics of the arcade, but the spectacle is something else; Robotron with raytracing, the resulting action worthy of an Amiga classic that plays out like Ridley Scott in crisp 70mm on the big screen.

Game looks beautiful...

Is that coming from this guy? Because based on some of this previous videos he is a bit Xbox biased. I have seen others sources saying average of 1800-1900p. Let's wait for VGTech verdict for an accurate average resolution.

It's always interesting to see how play through sections are chosen to be analyzed -- is the analyzer spending too long in one section of a game or skipping through certain areas just to get numbers to reflect what story they want to tell or is it because the game requires more time spent in that section. The same thing with them pausing on one system but not another before moving on to force glitches or not putting together more like-for-like situations.

That's mostly why I've grown beyond all the "tech analysis" being done by most places, it's entirely too easy to shape the results.

With that said and out of the way, and perhaps contrarian to some aspect of this site, as long as the game is fun and enjoyable and worth your investment of time and money don't sweat the technical details.

I also think vgtech is more reliable

I still haven't seen one negative or even neutral preview. They all seem to like or love the game. The game is already 4th on Amazon while it was >100 not long ago. From what I saw, this is going to be the most successful Housemarque game, and easily. And they deserve it.

I can tell right away from that video that it's not 1800-1900p on average. Maybe if you stop and let the image converge over some frames... but nah, it's almost always scaling.

Its nowhere near Demon Souls graphics either, these claims of 'best PS5 has to offer so far graphically' are kinda strange to me. DS is on another level visually as far as PS5 exclusives go.
