So Nintendo can milk the Switch for a couple more years, at least financially.

No big financial incentive for them to release a next gen Switch.

if the switch pro / 2 plays all the same switch games they could actually just keep the switch on the market. Just put the switch pro at a higher price.

switch light ( $200)
Switch ($300)
Switch pro / 2 ($500)

It would be interesting to see if it explodes in Chinese market - I mean having market bigger than all the markets combined.... I understand that they are not selling consoles there? Or do they?

Guess It won't surpass Nintendo DS.

I think a Switch Pro/2 at $500 would be a huge ask.

It better come with a dock and in connected mode do at least what the PS4 Pro did.

Nintendo has an agreement with, you guessed it, Tencent for distribution. Still early days and very low volumes, comparatively. But growing.

Launching new console hardware with without it incurring losses in operating income (profit) is incredible. Launching PS5 obviously has muted the profitability from what it would have been in a non-launch quarter but that there were actual profits rather than loses? :runaway:

It will be interesting to see what the next two quarters look like as they gain more and more momentum and launch costs are behind them.

As mentioned in the poll, spending on PS Store include Games & Add-on content (DLC/MTX/etc...) but no Services (as PS+/PS Now)

This is 5 billions for Xbox division, best quarter ever for the Xbox division.
Interesting. I wonder if Xbox One sold around 80 mil. we would have basically same amount of revenue. But the difference in revenue is similar to the console sales though.

Another thing regarding PS4 as it seems it is dying fast. Probably won't reach PS2 numbers. I wonder why would not they drop the price? To offset PS4 losses?

Definitely under 60 million. The worldwide split is slightly over 2:1, in Sony's favor.

Sony isn't about to give up those margins just to obtain 150M+ sold. If anything, the 1.4M PS4's that were sold during the third-quarter is a good indicator that PS4 is going to have [extra] long legs -- maybe until late 2023 (possibly completing a 10yr lifespan).

Wow, I wasn't expecting PS4 sales to fall off a cliff...but then the price hasn't really dropped as I might have expected. It'll certainly never catch the PS2 now :(
