Assassin's Creed: Valhalla

Wait a little and VGtech guy said on era he did not test the torch first time. In the scene where the PS5 framerate goes down the resolution is higher on PS5 and the XSX run at 1080p. It seems reduce the minimum res scaling to 1080p on PS5 would solve the problem.

The 1.04 test has a demanding scene not in the previous video which is adding most of that tearing on PS5.

Nah, the torch scene was in the first analysis. In the previous patch PS5 had higher fps and the res bottomed out at 1440p. They clearly mess up something, in the XB consoles res goes down and fps goes up. In PS5 both res and fps goes down, doesn't make sense.

Let's see if DF have tested reinstalling the game from the PS Store, that seems to fix most fps drops according to some people. If that is the case should hopefully be an easy fix.

This is Digitalfoundry analysis. VGTech did not find the toll of torch on performance and did not do the test the first time. We will wait Df analysis. We will wait but it looks like if Ubi do another patch and reduce minimum resolution to 1080p like on XSX all will be ok. We will probably have less frame torn than on the first VgTech video.

Oh, I though it was from VG as well, my bad.

Yeah, I think DF has the best methodology to do these comparisons so we'll see the differences on PS5 between patches.

Nevertheless these dips don't happen very often, the initial video with 15fps dips every 15 seconds looked way worse than this. I think the PS5 performance after patch is worse, but still much better that XBSX performance before patch and nowhere near the same level of screen tearing. If, and only if, the tears are limited to one scene, maybe they just don't bother to fix it, we are talking single digits fps drops so nothing too bad, but it's a bit disappointing when patches sometimes fix a lot of things but mess up performance (even if it's just a bit).

Sounds like a terrible solution when it's obvious UBI messed up the PS5 patch altogether (see below). PS5 gamers should just stick with the nonpatched version, plain and simple.

Going from 865 to 2668 torn frames, seems more like an UBI issue more so than a PS5 hardware issue. And going from 97.52% to 92.3% (16.67ms) frame count just proves Ubisoft ACV PS5 patch is garbage.

Again Vgtech explains he did a test post patch it doesn't do first time. He used torch in a different scene than the Digitalfoundry one and he had some framerate dips not see the first time.

No one out of @Dictator found the torch performance impact. We will wait I think at the end the PS5 will perform the same in the same place. And if they want to reach a nearly perfect 60 fps they need to set the minimum resolution of DRS to the same resolution than Xbox Series X. They will probably going under 865 torn frames.

On XSX the game rarley dip at the minimum resolution and the average res is much higher.

In 30 fps Next generation console are nearly all the time in native 4k and it was probably the mode they wanted to release at first but after public reaction to 30 fps mode, they changed the target to 60 fps late during developement.

Next generation consoles have probably different settings than PC under ultra too but people forget the game requirement is high.

Why does the 5700XT have 2080Ti Performance in this title? Something is off here for Nvidia cards.

Some games/engines and combinations of driver simply favour one GPU architecture. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Maybe because it is an AMD title and the game is optimized around last gen consoles (PS4/XB1), current gen consoles(PS5/Xbox Series) and AMD GPU.GCN GPU Vega 7 perform well too. The title perfome very well on GCN, RDNA and RDNA 2 GPUs.

Or it is simply not optimized for Nvidia at all.

It's completely illogical to expect the 5700XT to reach 2080Ti level performance simply by a couple of driver optimizations, the 2080Ti has far more juice in it than the 5700XT. In previous AMD optimized titles, it would reach 2080 performance at best.

The point of OS APIs like DirectX is the software developers call the API and the API passes the calls to the driver. There shouldn't be a need to write code in a specific way for this hardware using this driver connected to this PC. There was a period of that but now it's thankfully back in the hands of the driver writers, hence Nvidia Game Ready drivers.

Ended up loading to get around the game break bug with The Builder. This whole area is tedious without that happening. Not very empowered role playing. "Gather round and agree this clearly stupid decision!"

Hope to be back at the town and doing regular Viking activity soon.

Has anyone else experienced performance issues after installing the latest patch for ACV? Currently playing on XBSX in performance mode and I've noticed a lot more screen tearing and FPS dips. The game ran much better for me prior to this patch, with the only noticeable issue being occasional screen tearing.
