Ok, so maybe VR will be a thing...

This is probably best we have today, but it is not for gaming. It has 2 displays per eye(one very highres), camera for mixed reality and eye tracking. There has been some rumors varjo guys would be trying to make the highres display follow eye but that is apparently very difficult to do robustly.

weird, the high resolution screen they mentioned are 1080p RGB screen, like PSVR.

EDIT: im dumb. Varjo is 1080p PER EYE.

It's much higher res than just two 1080p screens per eye would be. The 1080p screens provide a sweet spot at the centre of the the display. They're optically blended with the 1440p "background" display that fills out the rest of the view.

The sweet spot from the micro displays is 60 pixels per degree. The Index,Vive Pro etc sit around 10-13 ppd. If you're not looking at the high ppd sweet spot in the Varjo, then you're looking at the "background" display and experiencing a similar ppd to other headsets.

hey, turns out there's a vr "game" on steam where you explore fushimi inari, japan. Its tittled: explore fushimi inari japan. its free but the VR addon is 2-5 dollars.
despite its just an empty level with nothing happening at all, THE ATMOSPHERE IS AWESOME.

i instantly got hit by nostalgia, reminiscing the time when i visited japan with friends years ago... i miss japan.. i miss human interactions...

oh my, just tried google earth vr again, this time to Enschede, netherlands. Oh my. Simply lying on the floor giggling like mad is fun in google earth vr.

That’s something I’d like to try ... can you go to Maastricht as well?

Sorry I dont beleive it, not after the software industry stopped piracy with this :
heehe, I think we all started like that, travelling the 7 seas. It's so laughable nowadays... Well, I had everything legal. My first games were Microsoft Golf and the original Need for Speed. One day a friend of mine brought me a copy of Operation Wolf. Darn, what a good game. The diskette had a virus but nothing bad happened. xD

i'm new in vr. so, acording to www.oculus.com, quest 2 is awesome, but is it really worth buying? i mean it's cheaper than quest 1, specs are great, but is there enough high quality vr games? i know there's a lot of porn :D

There is good amount of games. Especially, if you haven't played older ones.

Half life alyx is crown jewel of vr games. Superhot vr, beat saber and table tennis 11 are very good if you are into that type of games. Ultimate fishing simulator vr is great, but will only appeal to people who like fishing. Elite dangerous, flight simulator 2020, star wars squadron are great if you are into those types of games.

There also are a ton of smaller neat experiences. imho. those small experiences are often worth it if you get them with discount price. Things like polybius, I expect you to die, accounting, tons of escape room experiences,...

There also is a lot of so, so titles that are worth trying. Things like original lucky's tale, boneworks,

Oh, and don't forget the non porn videos. Like the 180/360 vr videos from cirque du soleil are super fun(free, in youtube).

I definitely missed worthwhile games in list above. I haven't had time to play all the new vr games.

imho. quest2 at 299$ is a no brainer if you don't mind the facebook tie in. It will work great in standalone mode without cables for title likes like beat saber, darth vader immortal, table tennis 11,... And connected to pc it can be used for pc games like half life alyx, ultimate fishing simulator,...

If you want something better and don't need the standalone experience then hp reverb g2 is a great buy.

I am awaiting a quest 2 at the European launch next week. I added the extended head strap because I intend this one to be something I can bring to show others, and as I like really physical games like Beat Saber and hopefully table tennis, I need something close to the comfort level of the PSVR.

That is also what I will be comparing it to. Will be interesting to see if the loss in GPU power will be compensated by extra precision, freedom and sharpness and make it my favorite platform. I will certainly be comparing my Beat Saber high-scores between the two :) At the current 10k highscore per song cap, it is already pretty hard to even rank at all, which is a shame as I have no friends to beat. My 12yo son is my only competition, but I played it 80 hours and he’s only at 26 or maybe even less, so I still beat him easily.

I absolutely adored Table Tennis in Sports Champions or whatever it was called with the PlayStation Move, so I am really hoping Table Tennis 11 will be as good.

My PC is in a small room, don’t think I’ll be able to do much VR with that. But it will be fun to try stuff like virtual chats and desktops, and some seated games.

Table tennis 11 is magically good even on original quest. I liked the playstation move table tennis. Table tennis 11 is way more accurate and comes real close to proper table tennis. I bought 3d printed "controller" for table tennis 11. It makes the experience that much more immersive. My only complaint is that weight isn't quite same as what would be with real controller. I suppose quest2 controller would not work with the same adapter.

I forgot one game I really like in vr. Zaccaria pinball vr is quite decent. Highly recommend trying it out. It's only available for pc which is a bit of a shame.

VR is insanely immersive and can be the most thrilling gaming experience you've ever had. But the library grows pretty slowly.

I dont have much room and I'm starting to think it's massively expensive but if I dont spend any money I could afford one by january even though I dont really have the room and I dont have a compatible chair
but I want one...

Tell us more Eastmen

I wish i could. But there are 2 very big RPGS (i don't want to say AAA but certainly AA) that should be hitting and a big FPS game. None of these are announced. The other 2 will most likely slip further. But some companies made investments years ago that are now starting to wrap up

I found the Oculus Quest 2 porn tutorial on how to use it for fun. According to it, Quest 2 is by far the best device for porn: more storage, an amazing screen, big battery and it's much lighter than the Quest 1. The only downside I read about was the not so good strap.

See my impressions in the Quest thread, but I can confirm that the Elite strap (50 euros here) is perfect. Basically makes it as comfortable as the PSVR, but lighter.

And yeah, that Eleven Table Tennis, fantastic.
