Activision closes some Blizzard office(s)...

NEWS: Activision Blizzard is closing the long-running Blizzard office in Versailles, France, employees tell Bloomberg News. This comes after a restructuring and many months of turbulence following mass layoffs in 2019.

Blizzard's Versailles office handled customer service, localization, marketing, and other assorted tasks for Europe. A recent restructure had converted half the staff to be part of Activision Blizzard -- yet another example of Activision's growing influence on the company

Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick made $30 million last year. Just something we should be constantly remembering

More news: Blizzard also quietly shut down its office in The Hague, Netherlands earlier this year, employees told Bloomberg. An Activision Blizzard spokesperson confirmed the closure this afternoon.

Report: Activision Blizzard Closing French Office
Activision Blizzard will be closing its office in Versailles, France, according to Bloomberg.

The video game publisher’s French location, which handled press, localization, customer support, and marketing for Activision Blizzard games in Europe, employed 400 workers in 2019. The future of the office has recently been a shaky proposition, however, thanks to a massive round of layoffs that saw 134 employees accept severance packages in early 2020.

Anonymous sources told Bloomberg that Activision Blizzard originally planned to relocate a sizable portion of the French workforce to the corporation’s London office, but those plans were abandoned due to both the ongoing covid-19 pandemic and complications introduced by the United Kingdom’s exit from the European Union. It’s as of yet unclear what will happen to employees now, and Activision did not respond to Kotaku’s request for comment.

damn.. welp.. don't know what to say. Blizzard didn't need to go in business with them. Not sure why they did given how successful they were. This part is confusing.
