Final Fantasy VII Remake

Very beautiful looking game, excellent character models, dense environment, top end particles, the Unreal engine version here is really serving those nice volumetric lighting and many shadow casting lights. HDR is fantastic here, one of the best implementation I say. The Slum area does have some texture streaming issue tho, then again that sky dome is really taking up a huge ton of poly, texture budget I bet, so sacrifices would be made somehow. Still pretty early in the game so wonder if the graphics quality would be kept in later chapters too.

Would ff7 be considered cosmic horror? Maybe not. But jenova and sephiroth by extension certainly embody that trope to the t.

Yup, I'm in awe of that my Playstation 4 Pro is able to deliver. One of the most beautiful games of the generation no doubt.
 
at 4k 60fps on PS5 this game should look real smooth. it pops a bit less in daytime lighting but its still decent

When you say sky dome of the slum area do you mean that huge structure in the background in this pic? https://abload.de/img/7u8jhs.png

Cause that's actually just a 2D image backdrop taken from a pre-rendered CG structure. You can see the huge difference in quality of that compared to in-game structures.

Are you sure, do you have a source for that? I thought they did something different here as in the closest quadrant of that sky dome to the player's view is rendered in 3d while the further up ones could either be low LOD or a mixture of 2d and 3d? They looked more 3d than 2d that's for sure.

Pretty sure that wide shot was part of the pre-rendered cutscene :)
 
Around where i thought it would land. The best part is that SE has a unique opportunity to improve on the already solid foundation in this first part in latter parts of the story. Which is something that would not have been possible with a singular release.

Ff7 is so big i feel even more now than before that this was the most optimal solution even with some padding drawbacks.
 
Seems some are bothered with some dramatic changes in the ending.....I hope Sephiroth didnt bring the meteor in the first episode.....In the original game, Sephiroth was a great mystery waiting to be unraveled in the first disk...which would be nice if Square uses the first episode to build anticipation using the myth, the legend of Sephiroth. Just like in the first Lord of the Rings movie where the director was building anticipation for whats to come in the second. But I see a lot of Sephiroth exposure in the latest trailer.....And dont tell me thats Zack's foot at the very end of it......
 
looked at some review, whoa, the low res textures are really jarring. Hopefully fixed with day 1 patch.

Like i said this is gonna be divisive depending on what you want out of this project. The twist of this remake is huge and not everyone is gonna like it.

Its going to dominate the conversation going into the future parts of the project
