Apple's ongoing use of ImgTec PowerVR GPU IP

Too bad for ARM that they didn't foresee the need for a higher end GPU IP core years ago; eventually with the high end mobile GPU market being for its majority from in house GPU IP from the biggest players, GPU IP is effectively dead for that market in the longrun.
Or if you're pragmatic you could say that they saw that there was no market for high-end IP and that's why they didn't invest in it.

Not another chicken/egg dilemma LOL. Theoretically there could have been benefits in markets such as the automotive and/or low end laptop f.e.

Its like we’re back almost a decade, when they couldn’t possibly design an ARM core, at best they might be gluing building blocks together.

They bought two companies with shipping designs and they are a huge customers of both Intel and Arm, which gives them some leeway they lack for GPUs.

On a pure hypothetical basis if Apple managed to pay (besides licensing fees) either ridiculously low or no royalties at all, it sounds like a win for Apple with IMG being either way at loss here.
