Bright Memory - FYQD Studio (one person)

OK, this is supposedly made by one person. I say supposedly because this early access game (basically a demo) is so good that it's hard to conceive that just one person made it.

It's the rare early access game that has 97% positive reviews from almost 2000 user reviews.

It's a seemless blend of gunplay, sword play, and using powers. And it looks pretty good for being made by just one person. On top of that it runs really well, something that can be pretty rare with a lot of indie developers.

The only drawback is that it's pretty short (just episode 1 according to the developer) at ~1 hour. You can get more out of it by replaying and trying out different combinations of skills and power.

Also, this game draws inspiration for many of its combat arenas from other games (there's an obviously Dark Souls inspired arena, for example) which may or may not turn some people off.

The full "game" is slated to be about 3 hours (again according to the developer). That seems reasonable considering the price and that it's just one person making it.

There's various videos on YouTube of people playing it.

The combat itself puts the combat loops in many AAA games to shame, IMO.

SB

The trailer released showing off this new 3rd person mode looks impressive and well-implemented, with switching between perspectives being quick and seamless. Furthermore, 3rd person animations have also been implemented wholly, meaning the combat in 3rd person is just as slick and flashy as in 1st person.
