Live TV has managed that for decades.
Real time translation is very difficult. The more real time it is; the harder it becomes. Some languages like Japanese or Korean, Dutch or German the grammar is such that the verb is at the end. Making real time translation very difficult. In the UN; the translators themselves can only do it for 10-15 minutes before needing a mental break and swapping with another translator.

It is currently a problem that is being tried by ML/AI to predict the words before they are said.

Sure, but have the subtitles anyway. ;) That's better than someone standing on stage talking a language no-one in the audience understands, even if not very accurate. You can get a gist, and then get a proper translation afterwards if needed.
