Baseless Next Generation Rumors with no Technical Merits [post E3 2019, pre GDC 2020] [XBSX, PS5]

I'vr brrn trying to make sense out of these apparently contradictory statements:

a "Navi" GPU based on next-generation Radeon™ RDNA gaming architecture including hardware-accelerated raytracing.

a next generation GPU based on the Radeon RDNA gaming architecture including hardware-accelerated ray tracing.

I think

RDNA2 = RDNA1 + hardware RT.

But how can "navi" GPU be a next generation GPU? Maybe Navi GPUs with RDNA2 were so different from regular "navi" that AMD decided to consider them next genration GPU instead.

You're wasting too much time on inexact English marketing statements.

Yes, English is not an exact language. The whole science of Logic was founded in order to get around the logical fallacies that arise from conversation in various languages (English being one of them, obviously).

In other words, depending on a person's viewpoint it's easy to misinterpret what another person has said or has written if it's just using normal language conventions.

This is also why when many people read or listen to the same thing, we end up with multiple interpretations of the material. Just look at how many interpretations there are for the US Constitution (or any other governments founding documents) or the Quran (or any other religious document).

Then again, we wouldn't have funny season with so much speculation before every hardware release if language were a precise method of conveying meaning. Even worse when PR tries to make things deliberately vague in order for people (especially their competitors) to not determine any actual specifications of the product they are generating hype for. And then even worse when they sprinkle it with just enough actual information that people's imaginations run wild.

I think I now know what "Arcturus" is. I've read the the original comments by the AMD liason about Arcturus and he said it's PROBABLY not a next generation gpu chip. But notice, he wasn't absolutely sure if the gpu is NOT next generation. The specifications of Project Scarlett, as listed on Gamespot, now make sense Project Scarlett has a next generation gpu (according to AMD Q2 financial results report) that's called Arcturus.

There's reports about people finding references to Navi 21, Navi 22 and Navi 23. But AMD's John Bridgemen has already said that AMD is moving away from naming gpu chips like that and instead going back to using names like Bonaire. No more gpu generation name plus a number. "Arcturus" is supposed to be the first one.

Isn't anyone a little suspicious that those linux drivers might be bogus?

Remember that Sony job listing, calling PS5 the "world's fastest console"? Well, it looks they quietly removed the sentence that said that. Meanwhile, Microsoft seems to have changed the Project Scarlett page. It now says,

"Project Scarlett will set a new bar for console power, speed and performance, arriving Holiday 2020 alongside Halo Infinite."

So Project Scarlett will be the "world's fastest console"?

The job listing is irrelevant - it wasn't a public PR statement. Scarlet could set a new bar when it's released just by releasing earlier, only to be superseded by PS5 a week later.

There's no info in these breadcrumbs. There's no point trying to look for answers here.

Further Speculation: Less than 4 hour play time because of screen and inability to control brightness and contrast of screen.

I don't think a screen will be there on the controller, would be distracting also.

Especially with how it worked out for the WuPad. If there's a screen on it, it needs to be larger and fully self-contained like the Switch.
