Stadia, Google Game Streaming platform [2019-2021]

A gaming specific design could address that. Google could use Vulkan on a thin gaming layer, for example, and ensure all "Gaming Certified" products enable this.

They could also mandate ogl es 3.x as a minimum spec for [literally any recent or future Android version] instead of ogl es 2.0. That would go a long way in reducing milk's (and other's) poor perception of Android's performance and fragmentation. But they also love selling $50 mali-4xx android devices so here we are...

My bet is this platform will be based on streaming.

Google has announced gaming centric presentation for March 19, they have invited all major gaming press outlets to attend. We can expect formal unveil of their cloud gaming service [native Chrome support, plus Chromecasty HDMI dongle+gamepad offering].

However, some rumors are pointing that they will also unveil full home console hardware ["more powerful than Xbox One X"] and some exclusive content/partnerships with big publishers.

it could well be a full-fledged desktop console, but I don't think so....

This thing seems to be the gamepad.

Google Cloud would be one of the options. Devs would pay Google every time someone plays their game and uses the servers. Something like Fortnite would be a cash cow. Establishing Chrome as the de facto portal for gaming would of course be valuable in many ways. As per the article, what if you could access games in Chrome and play full screen, on any device?

The downside is YouTube level's of video quality for gaming?? Not for me! that's possibly where hardware is needed. Get gamers playing real games on hardware, dabbling with streaming, and grow the two together.

But doesn't Fortnite go around the Play store to avoid paying Google a cut of whatever revenues they generate?
