Is modern gaming losing its appeal to you?

Superhot is one of the most innovative FPS's of late imo, and it pretty much runs on everything from a toaster.

modern gaming as selling broken games for a lot and releasing DLC with major features that should have been in the main game, or as preventing people from playing how they would like by placing things being "unlocks" or as making games similar to casinos (pay for a chance to win) and making them addictive on purpose (like a drug) ?
Yes I have no interest in any of that, fortunately besides corporations caring only for money at the expense of everything else (employees, quality...), there are independant developers who care about making great games, not only very profitable products.

I have some magazines from the early/mid '90s that have articles whining about how awful modern gaming is becoming.

Come on, everyone knows the Saturn was a rough diamond against the showboat PS1.
They were both fugly. :)

But more seriously the complaints were mostly the same you see today. Supposed game simplification caused by consoles. Pretty graphics being prioritized over supposedly great gameplay. Development budgets were skyrocketing and causing popular genres with flat sales to fade away. Unless they were reinvented (ie Diablo), which of course was not something that was universally approved of. Of course there was also the FMV scourge and the Doom and C&C clone overload. Madness lol.
