How can Switch not be a sales monster if it's reportedly the fastest ever selling console over 21 months??

No the report stated it being fastest selling out of the current generation consoles. PS2 and especially the Wii was far ahead at that point, and they had imo the less optimal November launch. PS2 was also quite supply limited at launch and for some time, but really took off well before the 21 month mark.

I have to say that in NA neither of these consoles is a "sales monster". Both are doing good, but it would be nice to see how they are doing now against the PS2, Wii and even the X360. I think PS4 will have its hands full with the X360, which had a monster 5th and 6th years. Previous gens had more clear cut winners, at least in Sony vs MS comparisons. This time the battle in NA is relatively even and Switch is pulling good numbers as well. The three aforementioned older consoles did seem to have even stronger stints though. X360 started slower, but finished strong, Wii the opposite. PS2 was very strong for a long time.

Wasn't the article saying it's the fasted selling console? Was that just this gen?

edit - The Wii was at 10.71m after 22 months (can't find data for 21 months) and 13.81m after 31 months

I'll look into that, not done it before
Just in breakfast with kids otherwise I could link a proper tutorial. But. Using your google account. Go to google drive.

Then click on new> import. Select your file and it should create a new google sheet with your excel info. Then click the share button and make it public with a link but not editable.

You might lose some stuff during import. If it doesn’t work the way you want. Try the office 365 route.

PS2 was 9.99m @ m19 and 12.47m at m26 and 12.78m @ m29...so after 29mths PS4 is ahead

Numbers popping up little fast now haha. These numbers look very weird in some parts... what is the source for these? are you sure you are not counting the months from PS2s Japanese launch, which was half a year before NA launch?

This Arstechina article has Wii at 10.85M after 20 months.

Kaspersky reports the file contains a virus or malware. May not have been Kaspersky - no report - but Firefox or Excel. I got a warning when I tried to open it.

Wii was an absolute monster its first few years on the market. I believe in 2011 it finally started to decline pretty hard, but up until then it was a beast.

Thanks, I have put together a chart for X360 vs Xbox One as it looks like their paths are about to cross (it came up on resetera and I was curious);

I have uploaded the data so people can check it (and correct/use it) here.
These are US sales right? Interesting that the One has healthy sales in that territory and was actually doing better than the 360. I wonder how it is doing in Europe.

Sorry, yes - NPD figures (updated my post).

It's doing a worse everywhere else, I think anyway. Having dug around a bit by Jan 2011 MS announced 50m WW - that's around 50% of total sales in the US, with XBO just behind that figure with a swing to around 55% total sales in the US (not as bad as I expected).
