DXR games and demos; Where's the beef? *spawn*

"Just catching on" means it could have been done long before but people missed the trick, and are only just now 'catching on'. GPUs aren't 'just catching on'. They are evolving to support more features now that that's possible, primarily because lithography allows large enough processors, and partly because of the evolution of GPGPU to compute as driven by software developers. Everyone knew what RT was and what it offered, but it wasn't possible to do anything about it until now.
I meant catching on in terms of the algorithms they can use. GPUs can finally apply the same features as offline rendering for realtime use, albeit in limited form.

Microsoft seems to think differently

Notice: October 8, 2018: We have paused the rollout of the Windows 10 October 2018 Update (version 1809) for all users as we investigate isolated reports of users missing some files after updating. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We will provide an update when we resume updating customers. For reference, please see Windows 10 update history for additional information.
Right, forgot about this mess up on their front.

Didn't microsoft figure out the issue already? It was something to do with user moving onedrive sync directory and windows update misbehaving after that leading to deleted files?

I read something like that too, but it's still on pause. So as long as it's not out, it's not out. I have it though.

My desktop and laptop both also have 1809 update. Surprising if ms is still not confident enough to continue rollout.

If it affects all (Pro/upgraded) versions of Windows 10 it doesn't make it any better right?
Back to the good news BFV DX12 reviewed and it runs 60FPS at 4K on high end 1080Ti+ GPUs without DXR, awaiting DXR patching.
"While we'll follow the DX12 render path with DX-R support in mind, DX11 is running better and more stuffer free,"

All these years and DICE is still unable to make a decent DX12 path. In comparison, their Mantle path was already faster than DX11 in BF IV.

Weirdest thing is that SEED's prototype engine works faster on DX12 than Vulkan (Mantle's successor).

In the meanwhile, Square Enix just cancelled any future Final Fantasy XV PC development.
Was FF XV going to have raytracing or just DLSS?
