Star Citizen, Roberts Space Industries - Chris Roberts' life support and retirement fund [2012-]

Capital ship battle of thre Hammerheads (the performance is good for UHD). Of course they will also improve the gameplay of large battleships. In this video the gunnery person is not using his target system.

The scene at 7:40 - 12:20 was epic to watch.

An hour of tedious fucking around to setup, 5mins of boring pew pew pew
Props to the guy for being good at making cinematic shots though.

1. This is the first bigger and playable military ship
2. The Hammerhead is made as an anti-fighter but not to battle against other large ships.
3. He had mostly the standard armament, which is mainly intended for smaller ships. Because of the many same weapons the effects look more monotonous.
4. Bad tactics and communication
5. In 3.4 the ships will become slower
6. What should one also be able to do in a turret?
7. New and advanced shield effects (planned) can make it look more existing

Of course CIG has still to improve the fight, especially for big ships. Fights will probably get more easily with the changes of the flight model (3.4). Otherwise they have to make visual changes. Shields should signal how good the condition is depending on color, effect etc. Projectile hits etc. should cause more appealing effects on shields and armour. But it shouldn't be too colourful and comic-like either. Then the explosion of a big spaceship should be announced and they should also be epic to look at. That alone would improve a lot.

I tested some Arena Commander and as far as combat is concerned Star Citizen is at the moment one of the least pay to win games I know. The gap between players could not be bigger. This is so abnormal most people cannot even imagine it. There are pilots who play alone and with weaker ships against 10 enemies with better ships and they still leave the match with 40/3. If this stays Star Citizen is going to be a splatterparty for most but not one of the beautifull kind.

I know ;)

(the Freelancer changed a bit as well. See 6:43)

Since 3.3 this game feels better than ever. Sure there may be many bugs but it is playable. Slowly it becomes suitable for the masses. Since the weekend there is been a Server problem which may be fixed today.

Earlier I saw a fleet of Hammerheads landing outside the gates of the city. Seeing a fleet of capital and combat ships landing at the same time was one of the most impressive sightings I have seen in this game. Especially since it wasn't scripted by the game. I explored a little outside and then, from nowhere, many ships with players came slowly from the sky (about 13 ships in total ~ 3xHammerheads, 1xStarfarer Gemini, 1xConstellation, 3xHornets, 2x Gladius, 1xVanguard, 1xAvenger, 1xProspector). And from two of the Hammerhead spaceships came players with ground and hover vehicles.

how's performance. I'm downloading it now but won't play it till tonight. I'm hoping at 4k i'm closer to a steady 40-45fps than the current 25-35fps in 3.3

I don't think there will be much of an improvement in terms of performance over the just released Alpha 3.3 (last week Friday). From 3.2.2 to 3.3 the performance improved by about 80 % in FullHD. This currently allows 60fps for many players in most areas except Levski and Lorville. In UHD I wouldn't expect 40fps at all in this game. Especially not in Lorville. There is still a lot to be optimized and thats also listed in the roadmap.

Faceware is actually immersive for the game. It works with every camera (better are cameras with more Hz and which recognize the players head/face well in the dark).

In the beginning the huge building is also revealed by the disappearing clouds.

This is the first planet in this game and there are also four new moons.

To be honest I think its my ram and not my video card holding me back. I think when I double to 32 gigs I will get much better performance

I think that a high RAM clock rate (like 4000 Mhz) and an overclocked CPU (like 5 Ghz) are even more important. With thats its possible to get 50-60 frames per second on Lorville (1440p etc.).

blue-steel
sent a friend request. I am not playing to much at the moment but will be playing more after I treat my self to more ram. I think a higher clocked cup may help but I dunno , my ram is maxed out when I am playing

Thought I'd post this here since it seems to be where all the space simmers hang out
Gog has a new X game
X4: Foundations

Wow those graphics look like they came out of X3's expansions almost 10 years ago.
And who does an action reel for a marketing video without enabling antialiasing nowadays?

I hope they at least got super focused on improving gameplay and stability. I heard the last X Rebirth was critically panned for stability issues.
