DirectX Ray-Tracing [DXR]

elenarie, Developer at DICE:
I think people will be surprised at how well this will run in their respective final releases. :)

That's usually the case with every new technology. Seen as something situational at first, then when implemented across many different titles, it turns into something that people simply expect to have. :)

Sorry, can't speak about specifics yet. A bit too early. :D

According to Dark1x from DF there is also a playable Resident Evil 2 demo with RTX

Dark1x from DF also said:
Anyone saying BF5 doesn’t hit 60fps at 1080p is flat out wrong. That’s a lie or an incorrect understanding of what was being seen. It’s much higher.

Also, expect huge gains. This was less than two weeks of work by DICE. They barely had access to these cards prior to this event.
Let’s not judge so quickly here. BFV is much faster and we know the team had very little access to this hardware. I suspect TR is the same.
Also, TR is perhaps the least impressive playable game of the bunch in terms of how RTX is used. Resident Evil 2 and Metro look dramatically more impressive and ran like butter.

The on/off comparison in the first video (Atomic Heart) alone is "brutal". Multiple reflections would have to be expensive, I think. RTX is the right direction to close the gap between movies and games instead of 8K etc.

In racing games Raytracing reflections can be presented very well too.
