Rage 2 [PC]

Avalanche huh? I wonder what that means for Just Cause 4... It was rumored for this e3. Was the rumor fake or is that coming too?

JC3 was done by the New York team, so possibly JC4 would be theirs.

Seems strange for releasing two games in the same year under their parent name, but they did that with JC3 and Mad Max in 2015. :p

That's exactly what I was thinkig of. I thought they had regreted that move, but here we are in 2018...

So I guess this might not be on an id engine but instead on the Avalanche Engine? Since it's looking to be far more open world with various biomes, can't say that's a bad thing. JC and Mad Max has some excellent visuals that would suit this game.

It's not developed by Avalanche alone.
It's developed by id Software in collaboration with Avalanche Studios.

I don't think id Software has developed or co-developed any game that didn't use their own engine, ever. Even before id Software was created, its founders were using their own engines while working at Softdisk.

id Software has had their hands full with Doom 2016 DLCs and VFR, so it's not surprising that they needed help from another studio. But I don't think they would use anything other than IdTech 6 for Rage 2.

Besides, didn't Rage 1 have decent map sizes?

So, that would make it appear to be Avalanche Studios developing the game, likely with iD Software as consultants.

Well if id Software isn't working full time on Rage 2 then Bethesda keeping it out of E3 could mean they will be showing whatever id Software is actually working on. Maybe Doom 2?

That would be my guess. Either that or something related to Quake Champions. But something related to Doom makes the most sense as it's been 2 years since Doom 2016. Announcement with release in 1-2 years would make sense.

The rather interesting question IMO than ID's involvement, if there is story arc going with those factions , like in Fallout , or it's like Borderlands - no friendly factions but grind fodder.

"Story in a game is like a story in a porn movie. It's expected to be there, but it's not that important. "

- J.C.

In light of recent events- pseudo sequels of Borderlands and Mass Effect, I think there's a point when these action game sequels end up worse looking than Fallout3's worst written side quests, like that B movie vampire stuff.

Then F3 also had extreme highs to go with lows, like Reilly's Rangers...........

Depends on the person, I suppose
Myself. I feel story is a big negative, eg I have dragon age: origins: ultimate edition on my PC, played 22 mins according to steam. Too much exposition for me, I should ask for a refund, since I've played less than an hour. I assume No probs even though according to steam I brought it in 2015?
